- The vacuum cleaner should be repaired exclusively by a qualified professional using only genuine spare parts. This will ensure that the safety of the vacuum cleaner is maintained.
- Before using the equipment for the first time, check that the vacuum hose is in perfect condition. Leave the vacuum hose fitted to the vacuum cleaner while doing this so that no dust escapes accidentally. Other-wise, you may end up inhaling dust particles.
- Do not sit on the vacuum cleaner. You can damage the vacuum cleaner this way.
- Take care when using the power cable and the vacuum hose. Improper use of these can put other people at risk.
- Do not clean the vacuum cleaner by spraying a jet of water directly at it. Water entering the top of the vacuum cleaner will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Connect the dust extractor to a properly earthed power supply system. The plug socket and extension cable must have a fully functioning protective conductor.
Products sold in GB only:
Your product is fitted with an BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal
fuse (ASTA approved to BS 1362).
If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and

Technical Data
The specifications apply to a rated voltage [U] of 230 V.
These specifications may vary at different voltages and in country-specific
models.
Assembly
- Pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning or per-forming maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or putting away the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.
Fitting the Vacuum Hose (see figure A)
- Attach the vacuum hose (10) to the hose adapter (7) and turn it clockwise as far as it will go.
Note: The friction generated by the dust in the vacuum hose and accessory during extraction causes an electrostatic charge that the user may experience as static discharge (depending on environmental factors and their physiological state).
Bosch generally recommends using an anti-static vacuum hose (accessory) to vacuum up fine dust and dry materials.
Fitting the Extraction Accessories
The vacuum hose (10) is equipped with a clip system which can be used to
connect vacuuming accessories (dust extraction adapter (12), curved nozzle
(11)).
Fitting the Dust Extraction Adapter or Curved Nozzle (see figure B)
Fit the dust extraction adapter (12) or the curved nozzle (11) to the vacuum
hose (10) until the two snap fasteners (15) on the vacuum hose audibly click
into place.
To remove the adapter, press the snap fasteners (15) in-wards and pull apart
the components.
Fitting the Nozzles
Then attach the required extraction accessory (floor nozzle, crevice nozzle,
etc.) firmly to the curved nozzle (11) or the dust extraction adapter (12).
Changing/Inserting the Dust Bag (see figures C1−C4)
In order to extract fine dust that accumulates when working with sanders,
drills or fine saw blades, you should insert a dust bag (accessory). This
makes the dust easier to dispose of.
You can extract chips that accumulate when working with larger saws and
coarser dust without an inserted dust bag. However, you should clean the
textile filter (21) occasionally (see “Cleaning the Filter Unit”, page
9).
Changing/Inserting the Dust Bag (accessory)
Press the release button (8) and remove the dust container (9) from the dust
extractor.
Hold the lid (17) at the connection flange (16) and remove the dust container
lid.
Turn the cover (17) round.
Put the dust bag (18) over the dust extractor’s connection flange (16) and
turn the box flaps under the dust bag holder (19).
Press the lid (17) back onto the dust container (9) and then push the dust
container back into the dust extractor until it audibly engages.
To remove a full dust bag (18), unscrew it – without turning the cover(17)
around – in a downward direction from the connection flange (16).
Operation
- Pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning or per-forming maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making tool adjustments, changing accessories or putting away the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.
Starting Operation
- Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the power source must correspond with the information on the type plate of the dust extractor. Dust extractors marked with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
- Do not use damaged filters (e.g. no cracks, small holes, etc.). Replace any damaged filters immediately.
To ensure optimum suction power, you must always fully un-wind the vacuum hose (10) from the top part of the dust ex-tractor .
Extracting Dust Deposits
- To switch on the dust extractor, set the mode selector switch (2) to the “extraction” symbol.
- To switch off the dust extractor, set the mode selector switch (2) to the “switch off” symbol.
Extracting Dust that Accumulates from Working Power Tools (see figure D)
The dust extractor has a plug socket with a protective earth contact (4) that
can be used to connect an external power tool. Observe the maximum permitted
connected load of the connected power tool.
- Mount the dust extraction adapter (12).
- Insert the dust extraction adapter (12) into the extraction outlet of the power tool.
Note: When working with power tools that have a low air feed into the vacuum hose (e.g. jigsaws, sanders, etc.), the false air intake (20) of the dust extraction adapter (12) must be opened. This will ensure that the automatic filter cleaning function works correctly.
To do this, turn the ring above the false air intake (20) until the opening is at its maximum size.
-
To activate the automatic start/stop function of the dust extractor, set the mode selector switch (2) to the “automatic start/stop” symbol.
-
To start the dust extractor, switch on the power tool connected to the plug socket (4). The dust extractor will start automatically.
-
To stop dust extraction, switch the power tool off.
The automatic start/stop run-on function will run for up to 15 seconds longer in order to extract the remaining dust from the vacuum hose (10). -
To switch off the dust extractor, set the mode selector switch (2) to the “switch off” symbol.
Maintenance and service
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any work on the dust extractor.
- To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep the dust extractor and the ventilation slots clean.
In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord needs to be replaced, this must be done by Bosch or by an after-sales service center that is authorized to repair Bosch power tools.
Cleaning the Filter Unit (see figures E1−E3)
Press the release button (8) and remove the dust container (9) from the dust
extractor.
Remove the textile filter (21) together with its filter basket and brush down
the textile filter using a soft brush.
Hold the flat-pleated filter (22) by the supports and take it out together
with its filter basket. Brush the flat-pleated filter (22) down using a soft
brush or rinse it under running water and then leave it to dry.
Reinsert the cleaned filters, ensuring that they are positioned correctly and
securely.
Cleaning the Dust Container
Wipe the dust container (9) from time to time using a non-abrasive
commercially available cleaning product and leave it to dry.
Cleaning the Permanent Filter (see figure F)
Clean the permanent filter (24) from time to time in order to ensure that the
dust extractor continues to perform optimally.
- Open the exhaust air cover (23) and remove the permanent filter (24).
- Rinse the permanent filter (24) under running water and then leave it to dry.
- Reinsert the cleaned filters, ensuring that they are positioned correctly and securely. Close the exhaust air cover (23) again.
Faults
If the suction power is insufficient, check:
- Is the hose system blocked?
- Are the suction tubes firmly joined together?
- Is the container full?
- Is the dust bag (18) full?
- Are the filters clogged with dust?
If the dust extractor overheats, it will switch off. Proceed as follows:
- Leave the dust extractor to cool down for 60 mins.
- Remove the mains plug from the plug socket and insert it back into the plug socket.
- Ensure that the container and dust bag (18) are empty and that the vacuum hose (10), filter and permanent filter (24) are not clogged.
Regularly emptying the container will ensure optimum suction power.
If sufficient suction power is not achieved after following these steps,
please contact a Bosch customer service agent.
Storage (see figure G)
- Open the elastic bands of the vacuum hose holder (1) and wrap the vacuum hose (10) around the dust ex-tractor. Hook the elastic bands back in.
- Insert the vacuum cleaner accessories into the holder (6) provided on the vacuum cleaner.
- Wrap the power cable around the cable holder (3).
- Only ever carry the dust extractor by the carrying handle (5).
