DANGER
-
FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD.
Pump only clear water. Do not pump flammable or explosive fluids such as gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, etc. Do not use in a flammable and/or explosive atmosphere. Failure to follow these warnings could result in death or serious injury and/or property damage. -
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
Always disconnect power source before attempting to install, service, or maintain the pump.
Never handle a pump with wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surface or in water. Fatal electrical shock could occur.
WARNING
-
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
Before installing this product, have the electrical circuit checked by an electrician to ensure proper grounding. All electrical installations must conform to the National Electric Code and all local codes. -
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
Connect this product to a properly-grounded 115 volt outlet with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) device. -
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
Do not handle pump or pump motor with wet hands or when standing on a wet or damp surface or in water. -
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REMOVE THE GROUND PIN. -
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
BE CERTAIN the pump power source is disconnected before installing or servicing pump. -
ELECTRICAL SHOCK ALERT.
Protect electrical cord from sharp objects, hot surfaces, oil, and chemicals. Avoid kinking the cord.
Replace or repair damaged or worn cords immediately. -
CHEMICAL ALERT.
This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. -
PERSONAL INJURY ALERT.
Provide a means of pressure relief if the pump discharge can be shut off or obstructed. Pumps operating with a closed discharge can create hot liquid, which can cause burns. -
PERSONAL INJURY ALERT.
This pump is equipped with an automatic thermal overload and can restart without warning. -
PERSONAL INJURY ALERT.
Always use handle to lift pump. Never use power cord to lift pump. To avoid skin burns, unplug and allow the pump to cool after periods of extended use.
CAUTION
-
PERSONAL INJURY OR PRODUCT DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
Check to be sure your power source is capable of handling the voltage requirements of the motor, as indicated on the pump name plate. -
PRODUCT DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
These pumps are not designed or intended to be used to handle sewage or effluent. -
PRODUCT DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
This pump has been evaluated for use with WATER only. -
PRODUCT DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
Maximum continuous operating water temperature for standard model pumps must not exceed 104°F (40°C). -
PROPERTY DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
Do not use where fish are present. Oil in motor can kill fish. -
PERSONAL INJURY RESULT.
Secure the discharge hose before starting the pump. A loose discharge hose may whip, which can cause personal injury and/or property damage. -
PRODUCT DAMAGE MAY RESULT.
Keep the pump, base, and inlet screen free of debris and foreign objects.
PREPARATION
Before beginning assembly of product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts with package contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble the product.
Estimated Assembly Time: 5 minutes
No Tools Required for Assembly.
For best performance, use discharge hose of 50 ft. or less. If the discharge runs up hill, or is extra long, use larger diameter discharge hose or rigid pipe.
NOTE: Large diameter, short discharge hoses or pipe will provide better water flow rates than small diameter, long discharge hoses or pipe.
POOL COVER PUMP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install the snap-on strainer by lining up the pump base to match the strainer. Push down gently until it latches.
2. Attach garden hose adapter to the top pump discharge. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE HOSE ADAPTER. Finger tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn should be sufficient.
Ensure cap is installed on top discharge.
3. For best stability, attach garden hose to lower discharge. 1-1/4″ top discharge may be used with proper support of discharge line and pump.
If using garden hose (not included), thread the female end of the garden hose into the male end near the bottom of the pump. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE HOSE. Finger tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn should be sufficient.
For best performance, unwind the hose before starting the pump.
4. Place pump in an upright position on the pool cover where water will collect. Do not suspend pump by the discharge hose or power cord.
Be sure pump is not sitting in mud, sand, or debris.
5. Plug the pump into a properly grounded, ground fault circuit interruptor (GFCI) 115 V outlet. For safety, the pump should always be electrically grounded to a suitable electrical ground, such as a grounded water pipe, properly grounded metallic raceway, or ground wire system.
UTILITY PUMP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. To enable pump to fit into smaller spaces remove snap on base from pump by pulling the tab outward. This allows the pump to lift out of the base.
2. Attach garden hose adapter to the pump discharge and then connect garden hose to adapter. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE GARDEN HOSE OR HOSE ADAPTER. Finger tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn should be sufficient.
Attach cap to bottom outlet.
3. Place pump in the water on a hard surface. Water must be at least 1-3/4-in deep in order for pump to operate. Avoid placing pump directly on sand, dirt, or mud.
- Hard Surface
4. Plug pump into a properly grounded, ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) 115V AC power outlet.
- GFCI Outlet
OPERATION
1. Water must be a minimum of 1-3/4-in deep for pump to operate.
The pump will run for 15 seconds after it is plugged in. If water is being pumped during this 15 seconds, the pump will continue operating until water level drops to 1/8-in. At that time, the pump will shut off.
After the pump shuts off, it will automatically turn back on every three minutes for 15 seconds and then turn back off if it is not pumping water. To re-start the pump sooner, unplug the pump for a few seconds and plug it back in.
NOTE: This pump does not contain a water level sensor but will automatically shut itself off when water level drops to 1/8-in. A built-in timer turns the pump back on after 3 minutes and it will continue pumping as long as water is present.
- 1-3/4-in minimum to operate
2. To prevent unnecessary wear, unplug the pump from the power output when not in use.
CAUTION: Extended usage of the pump in a partially submerged or non-submerged situation may cause the pump to overheat due to lack of heat dissipation from the water. If this occurs, the pump will shut itself off until the motor cools to its normal temperature. Repeated overheating may cause damage to the pump.
- Unplug Pump
- Low Water
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The motor housing of pump is completely sealed and requires no service. Disassembly of the motor housing or alteration of the power cord voids all warranty.
1. Periodically unplug pump to inspect the inlet and remove any debris. Make sure your hands are dry and that you are not standing in water.
- Unplug pump
- Remove debris
2. If pump clogs, unplug the pump from the power supply. Attach one end of a garden hose to a spigot and the other end to pump discharge. Turn on the spigot to run water through pump to clean it out.
3. If the pump becomes clogged, remove the screen and clean out the area.
Debris in the intake should be routinely removed from the bottom of the pump to prevent damage to the pump, which will void the warranty.
- Remove Screen
