Maintenance

To ensure years of precise performance, maintain this product periodically based on frequency of use.
Read the maintenance precautions thoroughly before maintaining this product.

Maintenance Precautions

|

  • This machine includes parts that must be replaced periodically. We therefore recommend taking out a maintenance contract. We recommend cleaning this machine and replacing consumable items to prevent quality defects and accidents.

---|---
|

  • Clean periodically. Debris and dust will accumulate on electrical components when this machine is used for extended periods. There is a risk of failure, electric shock, or fire due to current leakage.
  • Do not clean by blowing—e.g., avoid using air blowers. Doing so may lead to failure, electric shock, or fire involving the machine if airborne debris or dust gets inside electrical components.
Wipe using a soft cloth soaked in dilute detergent and thoroughly wrung out. A vacuum cleaner may also be used for cleaning.

|

  • Do not allow liquids to get inside the product. Otherwise there is a risk of failure, electric shock, or fire.

|

  • For heavy soiling, wipe using a soft cloth soaked in dilute detergent and thoroughly wrung out.

|

  • Do not use chemical products containing benzine, thinner, or abrasives. Use of these chemicals may result in damage to or deformation of parts.
  • Do not use chlorine-based detergents. Doing so may corrode the machine.

Maintenance Procedure

Cover (Exterior) Cleaning

|

  • Do not allow liquids to get inside the product. Otherwise there is a risk of failure, electric shock, or fire.

---|---

|

  • For heavy soiling, wipe using a soft cloth soaked in dilute detergent and thoroughly wrung out.

---|---

Cleaning the Y-Bar Rail Surfaces

**Important!**

|

  • Before use, be sure to gently wipe the four rail faces A to D shown in the following figure with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or dust. Dirt on the rails may cause abnormal noise and affect cutting quality.

---|---

A: Upper rail rear

B: Upper rail side

C: Lower rail side

D: Lower rail rear

Cleaning the Grit Rollers

With use, the protrusions on the grit rollers may become clogged with paper dust from sheets, causing sheets to slip.
To prevent this, visually check for any debris, and clean promptly.
A brush (such as a toothbrush) should be used to clean the grit rollers.
Use a small amount of alcohol if dirt is difficult to remove.

Cleaning the Pinch Rollers

Leaving debris on the pinch rollers may cause it to build up and harden.
To prevent this, wipe clean using a dry cloth or cloth moistened with alcohol.

When Not in Use for Extended Periods

Clean as follows if the product is not used for one week or longer:

|

  • Do not leave with sheets loaded on the platen. This may create irregularities or ripples in the sheet.

---|---
|

  • When this machine is not in use, push the clamp lever to the rear to separate the pinch rollers from the grit rollers. Leaving the pinch rollers in the lowered position for an extended period of time may cause the pinch rollers to become deformed. Deformation of the pinch rollers may prevent the sheet from being fed correctly.

Consumable Item Replacement

To order replacement consumable items, contact your local dealer or our service office.
For more information on consumable items, refer to our website. https://mimaki.com/supply/cutting.html

|

Cutter Replacement

Replace cutters when blades are chipped or blunt.

|

  • Avoid touching the cutter blade. Failure to do so may result in injury.
  • Do not shake or swing the cutter holder. Doing so may cause the blade to come off.

---|---
|

  • When disposing of the product, contact an industrial waste disposal operator or dispose of the product in accordance with the local laws and regulations.
  1. Rotate the adjusting knob to extend the cutter blade fully.

  2. Use tweezers to pull out the cutter.

    • If the blade is chipped and difficult to remove using tweezers, remove the black cover to facilitate replacement. Take care not to injure yourself by handling the blade directly and to avoid dropping it.
      ---|---

  1. Insert a new cutter into the cutter holder using tweezers.
    • Check the orientation of the cutter before inserting it fully.
Pinch Roller Replacement

Replace worn or dirty pinch rollers with new ones.

  2. Lay paper beneath the pinch rollers.
    • Lay paper to avoid dropping parts between the gaps.

  3. Remove the O-rings, pull out the P/R spindle horizontally, then detach the pinch roller.
    • Do not lose the O-rings.
    • The spindle may be difficult to pull out or reinsert.

  4. Insert the P/R spindle into the new pinch roller, then reattach the O-rings.

Pen Line Rubber Replacement

The pen line rubber forms the surface over which pen plotting, cutting, and creasing are performed.
Replace when the pen line rubber is excessively damaged, deformed, worn, or lifting, and when cutting quality has deteriorated.

  1. Use tweezers to peel off the end of the pen line rubber.
    • Wipe off any adhesive remaining in the platen slot with alcohol.

  2. Attach the double-sided tape provided into the platen slot.
