Smart Series: IP Cameras and NVR Hardware Setup
Congratulations on your purchase of a Turing Vision surveillance platform.
This guide will help you set up your hardware system for the first
time.
Components
Congratulation on your purchase of the TURING Smart Series IP Cameras and NVR
system.
This guide will help you set up the Turing Smart Series IP Cameras and NVR
systems and get things running.
Be sure to check to see that all parts are present. Note, that some third-
party components such as monitors, mice, and keyboards can also be used with
this system. If you encounter any problems, please visit

Logging in using Monitor
The next sections will assume you have some familiarity with computers and software. You can log in to the NVR locally using the monitor provided, or remotely using a mobile device app or desktop computer connected to the Internet. We will first log in using the monitor. Once the NVR is powered up the home screen will automatically request you to select a language.
|
---|---
1). Choose a language, three are available: French, English and Chinese| 2)
When logging in for the first time, enter the default password 123456

-
You will now be redirected to the ‘enhanced password mode’ where you can enter your own personal password.| 4) Enter a new password – it must contain the following characters: one upper case one lower case one number special character (*, $, # etc.)
-
Set an unlock pattern for extra security (this pattern can also be used in other menus within the system).
EXAMPLE:
Network Setting using Monitor
Setting up NVR Remotely
Use Smart Utility software to search and find NVR within the network. Download and install the software from the link below: https://turingvideo.com /software-download/
Once you have installed the software, it will automatically detect any devices
connected to your local network.
Double click on the “E” icon to access NVR’s web login.
Open any web browser and type in the IP address of the NVR into the search bar and a login for the NVR will appear. Enter the following:
|
---|---
Once you have logged into the NVR you will see the NVR’s home screen (similar
to the monitor home screen). Select SETUP from the menu at the top to examine
the NVR components.| View details of the NVR components by selecting the
categories on the left side menu (please note the NVR’s IP address may be re-
assigned automatically if you are using DHCP settings).
Like the monitor, you can also check any hard disks in the NVR and format any
drives if needed.
Setting up IP Cameras Remotely
Select CAMERA on the side menu to view all cameras connected to the NVR. When adding new cameras, turn Auto Switch to H.265 OFF.
When installing new cameras, the protocols need to be PRIVATE. To change these protocols, perform the following:
- Check the camera box number to change;
- Select MODIFY;
- Change Add Mode to IP ADRESS
- Change Protocol to PRIVATE;
- Enter the camera’s existing password; and
- Select SAVE on the bottom.
Assign Passwords Remotely
To assign users a password perform the following:
- Change into the System on the Side Menu;
- Select USER;
- Choose a user to assign a password to from the list;
- Select CHANGE PASSWORD and enter a new password for the user. (must include numbers and special characters)
NOTE:
This feature is only available to cameras with PRIVATE protocol settings. The
Sync to Camera option allows passwords to be applied to cameras
Syncing Time Remotely
Setup Algorithms Remotely
To utilize algorithms available for your NVR, perform the following:
-
Select the SMART tab on the top menu;
-
Select camera from the pull-down menu;
-
Under Perimeter Protection select INTRUSION DETECTION and ENTER AREA.
-
Back under the VCA CONFIG heading, select the gear icons to apply algorithms. For this example, select the ENTER AREA.
Note: Cross Line detection algorithms set in the IP cameras are not included as events in the current version of Turing Vision. -
Draw four points around an object on the camera view;
-
Select the FINISH DRAWING icon;
-
Click the PEDESTRIAN snapshot;
-
Select save at the bottom to save the settings;
-
Repeat steps 4-8 for the INTRUSION DETECTION algorithm.
Tips for Using Algorithms
When drawing detection zones around camera areas, be sure to outline similar areas with a similar shape to maintain accuracy and rule out false alarms.
| Notice
how the detection zones are very different – this condition may lead to false
alarms.

Notice how the detection zones are very similar – this condition will rule out
false alarms.
