SACKit Ø14 Indoor Outdoor Bioethanol Lamp - FIG1

USE OF SACKIT BIO LAMP – Ø14
Suitable for both outdoor and indoor use
SACKit Bio Lamp – Ø14 can be used both outdoors and indoors . For outdoor use, it is recommended not to ignite the bio lamp in strong wind conditions and precipitation.
Note: It is recommended to store the bio lamp indoors, as moisture and cold can cause problems that hinders ignition. In addition, the bio lamp should always be stored with  the included fire extinguisher on top. This prevents water from entering the reservoir. If the ceramic fiber cotton in the reservoir gets wet, the bio lamp cannot be ignited . Do  not leave the bio lamp outside with bioethanol in the reservoir . Bioethanol can not be ignited if it gets cold .

Before use
Make sure that:

  • There is sufficient ventilation in the room. Regular air circulation is required.
  • The room is a minimum of 12m² . This indication applies per bio lamp.
  • The bio lamp is placed on a surface which is not easily flammable and can carry the weight of the bio lamp . If the bio lamp is placed on a piece of furniture with wheels, these must be lockable .
  • The bio lamp is not placed near curtains and openings with draft.
  • There is a minimum distance of 50cm from the bio lamp to objects and people on all sides .
  • There is a minimum distance of 1m from the bio lamp to ceiling/overhang .
  • To have a fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket within distance of reach.
  • Any spilled bioethanol is wiped away with an absorbent dishrag .

WARNING!

  • The glass on the bio lamp becomes very hot during use and must therefore not be touched .
  • When the bio lamp is running out of bioethanol, the flame will become very small until it goes out completely. It can be difficult to notice, and to ensure that the bio  lamp is off, you must therefore always place the fire extinguisher on top of the bio lamp before leaving it.
  • Keep head and hands away from the bio lamp when ignited . Accumulated vapor from the bioethanol may give off a higher flame at start-up.
  • If other fuel than that specified is used, the bio lamp may burn irregularly and in worst case emit harmful substances . SACKit ApS can not be held responsible for  damages caused by incorrect use of the bio lamp .

FUELING THE SACKIT BIO LAMP – Ø14

Fueling the SACKit Bio Lamp – Ø14 must always be done in the following way:

  1. Remove glass (A) and reservoir (B) from the base (C) of the bio lamp .

  2. Remove the lid (D) from the reservoir (B) .

  3.  Pour bioethanol onto the ceramic fiber cotton (E) until saturated (MAX 500ml). When bioethanol can be seen at the bottom of the reservoir (B), the fiber cotton is saturated.
NOTE: Never overfill the reservoir! Do not fill the reservoir to the edge with bioethanol. When there is more bioethanol in the reservoir than the ceramic fiber cotton can  absorb, it can easily overflow while handling the bio lamp and it can burn uncontrollable. The ceramic fiber cotton must remain in the reservoir and may only be removed when replacing it . If other fuel than the one specified is used, the bio lamp will burn irregularly and in worst case, emit harmful substances .
WARNING: DO NOT fill fuel into the open flame.
DO NOT fill fuel into a hot burner.

  4. Put the lid (D) on the reservoir(B) .

  5. Place the reservoir (B) in the base (C) of the bio lamp .

  6. Move the bio lamp to the desired location. The bio lamp can now be ignited .

IGNITION OF SACKIT BIO LAMP – Ø14
The bio lamp should be ignited as follows:

  1. Place the bio lamp with the correct safety distance to objects/persons .
  2. Ignite the bio lamp at the cross with a long lighter .
  3. Attach the glass (A).

NOTE: Avoid holding your head over the bio lamp during ignition. Keep hair and loose clothing away from the bio lamp when it is lit .
WARNING! Do not smoke while filling and lighting the bioethanol burner. Risk of explosion!
EXTINGUISH THE SACKIT BIO LAMP – Ø14

The bio lamp is extinguished as follows:

  1. The flame burns for up to 6 hours. To ensure that the bio lamp is completely off, the fire extinguisher should be placed on top .
  2. To extinguish the flame, place the fire extinguisher (F) over the flame. The flame goes out after a few seconds .
  3. Leave the fire extinguisher (F) on the bio lamp when not in use .

Burning time: 4 to 6 hours
There are many factors affecting the burning time and therefore it varies accordingly. To achieve the longest possible burning time, make sure to fill the reservoir up to the  500ml. If it takes too long between refueling and igniting it, some of it may have evaporated, reducing the burning time.

FLAMMABLE LIQUID – BIOETHANOL
It is important when you use flammable liquid, such as bioethanol, that you read the user manual on the container. For optimal flame and harmless burning, it is important to  use a bioethanol with an alcohol content of 95-97%.SACKit Ø14 Indoor Outdoor Bioethanol Lamp -

NOTE: Bioethanol is a hazardous material with hazard grade UN1987, Level 3 . Bioethanol is highly flammable and must be handled with care.
Always follow the safety precautions specified by your bioethanol dealer.

Bioethanol as a fuel
Bioethanol is a biofuel which means that it is produced from renewable energy sources . It consists mainly of ethanol (alcohol) which is produced by fermentation of sugars. These sugars can be divided into 2 categories:
1st generation bioethanol is extracted from sugars from edible plant parts. Worldwide, the majority of bioethanol is extracted this way .
2nd generation bioethanol is extracted from sugars from biowaste. The argument for this type of extraction is that you can utilize resources that otherwise could not have been used elsewhere, such as for food . It is a more expensive process but regarded as more gentle to the environment .
Contact your bioethanol dealer for info on how your bioethanol is made .
When bioethanol is burned, CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O (water) are excreted . It does not emit soot or odor and can therefore be used indoors . If you burn bioethanol in a room with less than the recommended minimum room size, it can become oxygen deficient and thus dangerous to stay in. You can experience a faint smell of alcohol when using the bio-lamp. This occurs due to evaporation of unburned bioethanol but is harmless .

TROUBLESHOOTING

My bio lamp will not ignite

  • If the bio lamp is outside or in a cold room, it can be difficult to ignite. Refuel the bio lamp only just before use, to prevent the bioethanol from getting too cold. If  necessary, bring the bio lamp inside for 30 minutes before use so that it reaches room temperature . Do not move a lit bio lamp!
  • If the bio lamp has been left outside without the fire extinguisher, the ceramic fiber cotton may get wet. The fiber cotton is no longer usable and should be replaced. Can  be bought at www.sackit.eu
  •  The added bioethanol may be depleted. Follow the instructions for refueling on page 20.
  • If you have used other fuel than the one specified, there is a risk that the bio lamp will not ignite or in the worst case burn uncontrollably . Never use other fuel than the specified!

The flame is very small

  • When the bio lamp is ignited, the flame may appear small because the reservoir is not yet warm.
Within 5 to 10 minutes (for indoor use) the reservoir will be heated and the flame optimal.

  • The reservoir may be close to running out of fuel. Allow it to burn completely or extinguish it with the included fire extinguisher and follow the instructions for refueling on page 20. Do not refill on an open flame! Do not refill a hot reservoir!

  • If you have used other fuel than the one specified, there is a risk that the bio lamp will not ignite or in worst case burn uncontrollably . Never use other fuel than the specified!
The flame goes out even though there is bioethanol in the reservoir

  • The specified bioethanol is optimized for indoor use. It is affected by temperature and weather conditions. Wind and low temperatures can cause the bio lamp to go out after a short time.
