PET OWNERS NOTE:
The health of birds and some small pets are extremely sensitive to the fumes
given off during the initial use of many appliances. Although these fumes are
not harmful to humans, it is recommended that this heater not be used around
birds and small pets during its initial use until the manufacturing corrosion
coatings burn off.
USAGE:
HEATER OPERATION: Always operate the heater in the upright position following all instructions and recommendations listed in this manual. HEATER LOCATION: Place the heater in the area of the room that is coldest. HEATER CONNECTION: Plug heater directly into 120 Volt AC, 60Hz wall outlet. Be sure plug fits tightly in outlet. A loose connection may cause overheating and damage to the plug or heater. NOTE: To prevent overloading a circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that is servicing other electrical needs. Make sure heater is at least three (3) feet away from walls, furniture, and other obstacles.
TURNING HEATER ON:
The Power Indicator Light will illuminate to show the heater is plugged in and
has electric power. The heater has three heat settings: 600, 900 and 1,500
watts. Use the 1,500 watt setting to raise the room temperature quickly while
thermostat control is at its highest setting. (During the heaters initial use,
you may experience a slight odor or smoking. This is the result of residual
lubrication on the steel “burning off”. This is normal and will go away after
a few minutes of use.) When desired temperature is reached, the 600 or 900
watt setting may be sufficient to maintain a comfortable temperature.
POWER CONTROL DIAL:
- Position I: Low – provides 600 watts of heat output
- Position II: Med – provides 900 watts of heat output
- Position III: High – provides 1500 watts of heat output
SETTING THERMOSTAT:
After the unit has warmed up, slowly rotate the thermostat knob counter-
clockwise until the thermostat shuts off (you will hear a faint “click”
sound). Leaving the thermostat at this setting will automatically maintain
this temperature. For a lower temperature, rotate the knob further counter-
clockwise.
TO TURN HEATER OFF:
Rotate Power Control Dial to OFF position. Unplug unit when not in
use.
WHEEL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
CAUTION: The heater is packaged with the feet unattached.
You must attach them before operating the heater.
WARNING: Do not operate without feet attached.
Do operate the heater only in upright position (feet on the bottom, controls
on the top), any other position could create a hazardous situation.
- Place the radiator body upside-down on a scratch-free location, make sure it is stable and will not fall.
- Screw off the wing nuts from the U-shaped bolt provided, attach the U-shaped bolt to the U-facing flange between first and second fins (near the front cover).
- To attach the castor mounting plate to the radiator body, you should insert the threaded ends of the U bolt in the holes on the castor mounting plate.
- Screw the wing nuts back to the U bolt and fasten the wing nut properly. Note: do not over tighten, which may cause the damage of radiator flange.
- Screw off spherical nut from the castor, align the shaft to the hole of the castor mounting plate, insert in, and screw on the spherical nut.
- Repeat 2, 3, 4 and 5 on the rear of radiator for mounting of the rear castors. Note: the rear castors must be mounted between the end two fins.
IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURES:
The heater is equipped with an automatic overheat protection device located inside the body of the heater. If the heater grille is obstructed, or if the heater gets too hot for any reason, the automatic overheat protection device will turn the heater off. To reset the heater, simply turn power off and unplug the heater for 10 minutes until it cools down and then you may plug the heater in and restart. Be sure that the heater is on a smooth level surface with no obstructions. The heater is also equipped with a safety tip- over switch to turn power off to the heater when the heater tips over. To resume heater functions simply stand heater upright.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE:
WARNING: ALWAYS UNPLUG THE CORD BEFORE MOVING OR SERVICING. Do not use harsh
chemical or abrasive cleaners.
DO NOT IMMERSE THE HEATER IN WATER. Allow heater to dry completely before use.
CLEANING: IMPORTANT! DO NOT IMMERSE HEATER IN WATER! Clean the heater grille
with the vacuum brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. This will remove
lint and dirt from inside the heater. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE APART THE HEATER.
DO NOT REMOVE THE HEATER GRILLE. Clean the body of the heater with a soft
cloth.
CAUTION: Do not use gasoline, benzene, paint thinner, harsh cleaners, etc. as
they will damage the heater. NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR SOLVENTS.
REPAIR: DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITHOUT THE GRILLE IN PLACE. DO NOT USE THE
HEATER IF IT HAS MALFUNCTIONED OR BECOME DAMAGED IN ANY WAY.
STORAGE: Keep original carton for storage of the heater. Coil and tie the
power cord to avoid damage during storage.
REFUELING: This heater is factory sealed and never needs refueling.
