The appliance should be preheated for 15 minutes with the lids closed. This will remove the smell typically encountered when first switching on the waffle iron.

Adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors.
-
Clean the appliance afterward as described in Cleaning and care.
-
For reasons of hygiene, discard the first waffle portion produced when the appliance is new.
-
Let the appliance cool down.
-
Then clean the plates as described in Cleaning and care.
Operation
- Close the lids.
- Plug in the appliance. The indicator light shows red.
- Preheat the appliance for about 5 minutes. It is then ready for use. Once the pre-set temperature is reached, the indicator light goes out.
- Open the top lid.
- Before use, the non-stick plates should be lightly greased with a small amount of oil or fat that is specifically intended for frying and may be safely heated to high temperatures.
- Put the dough only on the front half of the lower plate. To prevent the dough from overflowing, and to ensure the characteristic waffle-fries shape, do not overfill. We recommend using around 65 ml per baking cycle.
- Close the upper lid and press down gently to help spread the dough evenly.
- The baking time is in general 2 – 3 minutes, depending on the nature of the dough.
- Open the top lid to check the level of browning, and carefully remove the waffle-french fries, using e.g. a suitable spatula.
- To prevent damage to the non-stick coating, do not use any sharp or pointed objects to remove the food.
- Should the waffle fries be too light or too dark, adjust the baking time.
- Load with fresh dough immediately after removing the waffle fries.
- After use, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down with its cooking plates open.
Practical hints
- To maintain the crispness of the waffle fries, place them next to each other on a rack to cool. Placed on top of each other, they will lose their crispness.
- In order to achieve even browning, all ingredients should be of the same temperature.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning, remove the plug from the wall socket and wait until the appliance has cooled down with the cooking plates open.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, slightly damp cloth only.
- The non-stick plates can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth, a soft brush, or a sponge.
