PowerX Electric Water Heater
WELCOME TO THE POWERX FAMILY Join us on our mission to save energy, water and the planet
WARNING
PowerX Water Heater – Electric connects to high voltage outputs. Improper use or installation can be dangerous or even fatal. Please be careful and follow these guidelines:
- PowerX Water Heater – Electric should be installed by a qualified professional.
- Personal protective equipment should be worn when installing PowerX Water Heater – Electric. Using or installing PowerX Water Heater – Electric in an unspecified manner can impair protective equipment.
- Do not open the PowerX unit or attempt to repair it. If there is an issue please contact our customer service team
- If you believe the PowerX unit is damaged, do not use them and instead contact our customer support team at support@powerx.co.
- The PowerX unit was designed for the United States and Canada. Use PowerX Water Heater – Electric only with a 60Hz 120V/240V system. Never use PowerX with heaters that draw more than 5,000 Watt.
- Install PowerX Water Heater – Electric where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight or extremely low or hightemperatures.

Download the PowerX App & connect Hub
Plug in the PowerX Hub
Connect the PowerX Hub to the wall adapter and cable, and plug it in an electrical outlet. The Hub’s LED light will start to blink.
Download the PowerX App
Download and open the PowerX App from your device’s app store and follow the on-screen instructions
Scan Hub’s QR code
Scan your PowerX Hub’s QR code, or type in the Hub’s ID manually. You can find the Hub’s ID on the bottom of the unit.
Connect to Wifi and add PowerX Water Heater
Connect to Wif
Choose your local Wifi network, select “Connect”, and enter yourWifi credentials. Your device is successfully connected if you see the message “Successfully added Hub” in the mobile app, and the blinking blue light on the device changes to remain ON steadily.
Add PowerX Water Heater
In the PowerX App select “Add device”. Then scan the QR code onthe bottom of the PowerX Water Heater – Electric sensor or type in the sensor’s ID manually.

Step by step guide to installingPowerX Water Heater – Electric
Prepare installation of PowerX Water Heater – Electric
Breaker OFF
Turn the main breaker in your electric panel OFF, this will turn offall electric circuits in your home.
Open junction box of electric heater
WARNING: Always treat line wires as if they were live and use appropriate protective equipment.
Remove the junction box cover. This box is usually on the top of the water heater, and normally requires unscrewing only one or two screws. There will be two wires coming out of the water heater, one black and one red or white.
Unscrew conduit nut
Open both covers from the junction box and remove the wire nuts. Release the ground wire, and unscrew and remove the conduit nut.
Open PowerX Water Heater – Electric cover
Open the front cover of the PowerX Water Heater – Electric to access the wires and contac
Mount PowerX Water Heater – Electric
Attach the unit to the box cover
Screw the box cover to the bottom of the PowerX unit using the conduit nipple and conduit nut that came with your PowerX.
Attach the supply line cable to the PowerX unit
It’s important to push the wires in all the way and screw on tight. Check if they are firmly connected by pulling on them.
Push the supply line wires through the top of the PowerX unit and screw the
supply line cable to the PowerX unit using the existing junction box conduit
nut.
Optional: if the diameter of the hole of the PowerX unit is too wide for
your water heater supply cable, you can use washers right above and below the
hole to decrease the diameter.
Connect the wires
Insert the wires from the water heater into the contacts marked “HEATER” on
the PowerX unit as shown. Make sure they are fully in and screw them tightly.
Insert the wires from the power supply line into the contacts marked “LINE” on
the PowerX unit as shown. Make sure they are fully in and screw them tightly.
NOTE: If a copper ground wire is present, affix it to the outside of the
conduit nipple using the grounding screw
Close the lids
Replace the junction box cover and close the PowerX unit cover as well
Attach sensors
Insert temperature sensor
Gently insert the black temperature sensor into the small opening between the tank and the temperature and pressure relief valve (T&P Valve). Be sure to insert the sensor by a distance of 1 inch or more if possible. Secure the black sensor cable to the T&P valve pipe using the included zip tie. Make sure the cable doesn’t cover the valve or prevent the valve from operating in any way
Secure hot/cold temperature sensors
Secure the blue temperature sensor to the cold water pipe using a zip tie.
Likewise, secure the red temperature sensor to the hot water pipe.
NOTE: Use caution when working near the hot water pipe.
Turn circuit breaker back on
Turn the main breaker in your electric panel back ON. All done! PowerX App will notify you of successful connection. Your PowerX Water Heater – Electric is ready to use.
Add water leak detection cable (optional)
If your kit includes the water leak detection cable, attach it to the PowerX Water Heater – Electric unit and place the blue section in a location where any potential leak points exist.
