Safety instructions

When using this electronic device, basic precautions should always be taken, including the following:

Read all instructions before using the product.
Do not use this product near water (e.g., near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool etc). Care should be taken that objects do not fall into liquids and liquids would not be spilled on the device.
Use this device when you are sure that it has a stable base and it is fixed securely.
This product, in combination with loudspeakers may be capable of producing sound levels that could cause permanent hearing loss. Do not operate for a long period of time at a high volume level or at a level that is uncomfortable. If you experience any hearing loss or ringing in the ears, you should consult with to rhino laryngologist.
The product should be located away from heat sources such as radiators, heat vents, or other devices that produce heat.
Note for power connections: for pluggable equipment, the socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
The power supply should be undamaged and never share an outlet or extension cord with other devices. Never leave device plugged into the outlet when it is not being used for a long period of time.
Power disconnection: when the power cord connected to the power grid is connected to the machine, the standby power is turned ON. When the power switch is turned ON, the main power is turned ON.The only operation to disconnect the power supply from the grid, unplug the power cord.
Protective Grounding – An apparatus with class I construction shall be connected to a power outlet socket with a protective grounding connection. Protective Earthing – An apparatus with class I construction shall be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.
The lightning flash with an arrowhead symbol, with an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage’ within the products enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation mark within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.
There are some areas with high voltage inside, to reduce the risk of electric shock do not remove cover of the device or power supply. The cover should be removed by the qualified personnel only.
The product should be serviced by qualified service personnel if:
- The power supply or the plug has been damaged.
- Objects have fallen into or liquid has been spilled on the product.
- The product has been exposed to rain.
- The product has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. No user- serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this apparatus to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

Before you start

The weekly player is designed to play audio files according to the schedule listed on the SD card. This player also plays background music between the scheduled audio, has microphone input with priority and phantom power, supports external control in order to play or stop audio messages remotely via eight dry contacts. For a quick announcement start, the player provides front buttons for four recorded audio messages. The device is designed for any public place where scheduled messages are required: it is a great choice for shopping centers and entertainment venues – for timed audio advertising, it also can be used at schools – to announce the beginning and the end of the lessons, or production facilities – to announce the breaks, lunchtime, or any other recurring event.

SD CARD CONTENT
In order to start the device SD card must have two catalogs: MESSA and MUSIC, as well as one text file named TIMING (TIMING.TXT). This file is the content of the schedule.

BACKGROUND MUSIC PLAYER
Between the scheduled audio, the weekly player is able to play background music located in SD card catalog MUSIC. During the scheduled message player skips played background music track and return background music after scheduled audio stops. All files inside catalog MUSIC must be renamed to T001, T002… Maximum number can be T999.

CLOCK BUTTON
This button allows to set up a device’s clock. Press and hold the button for five seconds to activate time adjusting. Use the rotary encoder to set hours, minutes, and days of the week, press to save adjusted value or jump from hours to minutes or to days adjusting. Device exit from setup automatically when days are adjusted.
Another way to exit setup it the short press of the clock button.

INFO BUTTON
This button shows information about ready to play or current playing background music audio file or displays the weekly schedule on screen. Press and hold to show schedule info or click this button to see name of ready to play or current playing background music audio file.

Explanation:

A number of schedule lines listed in TIMING.TXT file.
The time when the device starts to play the audio message.
Message number
Days of the week when this timing will be active.

ROTARY ENCODER
In the default mode encoder allows start to play or stop and select the background music track. Push encoder to play or stop music, turn it to select the track. In clock adjusting mode rotary encoder allows to set and save time settings also allows to scroll and view schedule if info mode is activated by hold INFO button.

REPEAT FUNCTION
It’s a button to control the repeat function for the background music folder named MUSIC. This feature doesn’t affect scheduled messages.

SHORTCUT BUTTONS 1-4
These buttons allow to manually run messages M001, M002 M003, and M004.
MESSAGE KNOB
Volume control for message and background music.
MIC/LINE KNOB
Volume control for external audio inputs.
MASTER KNOB
It is the main volume controller for both message player and external inputs.
OUTPUT LEVEL METER
LED indicator shows the device audio level in the output.
POWER BUTTON
Turn off/on device main power.

SD CARD SLOT
Message player supports SD HC cards formatted in FAT32 file system. Before using a new SD card make sure that all data are erased and SD card is empty. Create only two catalogs in the empty SD card – MESSA and MUSIC. The schedule should be writed as a text file TIMING. TXT by using notepad application.

SD card content

MESSA
It is a catalog to place mp3 files for scheduled messages. All files must be named like the following examples: M001, M002……M053. MESSA catalog can contain maximum 99 audio files.

MUSIC
This catalog is dedicated to placing background music audio files. All filenames in this catalog must be like following examples: T001, T002…. T020. Catalog MUSIC can contain maximum 999 audio files.

TIMING.TXT
It is a schedule file created with a notepad app. The rules how to create a timing file are listed below:

Every scheduled event starts with a new line in TIMING.TXT file.
Every schedule line must have the following information in the shown sequence separated by a comma: time, days of the week, audio file name.
The first info in schedule line is the time. Time format is 24 h (hh:mm). For example: 15:01.
The second information in the schedule line is days of the week. Days must be listed in abbreviation form: Mon – Monday, Tue – Tuesday, Wed
- Wednesday, Thu – Thursday, Fri – Friday, Sat – Saturday, Sun – Sunday. Each day must be separated by a comma. For example: Mon,Tue,Fri.

It is possible to use a dash (–) between the days when schedule must be repeated all days between the first and the last listed days. To repeat schedule line every working day only the first and the last schedule days can be listed, with the dash between. For example: Mon-Fri.
To repeat schedule line every day including weekends: Mon-Sun.
To repeat schedule line only on weekends: Sat-Sun.
Audio file name must be listed in the schedule line after days of the week, and the file with the same name must be placed to catalog MESSA located in SD card. Audio file name must start with letter M and three digits. For example: M001 or M012

Examples of schedule:
Weekly player plays audio file named M001
every work day at 8 o’clock:
08:00, Mon-Fri,M001

Player plays audio file M002 on Monday,
Thursday, and Sunday, 16:08 o’clock:
16:08,Mon,Thu,Sun,M002

TIMING.TXT file example

Auto play function
Weekly player can automatically start and stop playing background music according schedule listed in TIMING.TXT file. To enable Weekly player to play and stop background music automatically, you need to specify time, week days and function – AUTO and STOP. To start play music automatically set the command AUTO:

Example:
08:00,Mon-Fri,AUTO
Weekly player starts to play audio from catalog MUSIC every workday at 8 o’clock.

To stop play background music set the command STOP:

Example:
17:00,Mon-Fri,STOP
Weekly player stops to play audio from catalog MUSIC every workday at 17 o’clock.

IMPORTAT
Do not use spaces in the schedule line or at the end of the schedule line.
Press ENTER at the end of the schedule line in order to write another one

Rear panel functions

POWER CONNECTOR
The socket is combined with a fuse holder and 1A 250C fuse.
DC INPUT
The weekly player can be powered from an external 24 V power supply or 24 V batteries.
RELAY OUT
This is normally open (NO) relay output, which becomes closed when an audio message or background music starts to play.

MESSAGE TRIGGER
The device has eight dry contacts designed to start play messages from 1 to 8 remotely. The first trigger starts to play audio file M001 located in folder MESSA.
Trigger 8 starts to play message M008.
You can use the Stop trigger to stop audio anytime.

LINE OUTPUTS
The device has two line level audio outputs: Phoenix – balanced mono and stereo RCA.

DIP SWITCH
This switch allows to enable or disable microphone input priority, phantom power as well as change input gain and make input suitable to connect line level audio or microphone.

PRIORITY
The mode is designed for emergency and other high priority audio messages.
Audio in this input mutes scheduled messages and background music if priority DIP switch is set to position ON .

PHANTOM POWER
Set phantom power DIP switch to position ON in order to activate phantom power in balanced input. The maximum phantom power voltage is +24 V. To disable phantom power set the switch to the OFF position. Keep phantom power disabled if you are going to use the line level audio or dynamic microphone. Enable phantom power in only one case – if you are using condensed microphone.

MIC/LINE
Boost balanced input gain, switch to position MIC, in order to amplify the audio signal from the microphone properly.

FIRMWARE UPDATE
It is a MICRO USB type connector designed to upload the main CPU firmware

DISPLAY

Below are listed all available messages and short explanations.

— — — — – this symbol indicates that the device is reading SD card. Reading time depends on SD card size and audio files sizes recorded to SD.

NO SD – this message shows that the SD card is not inserted in the device or the SD card is not supported.

MESSAGE XX – after the device completes SD card scanning information about audio files located in the catalog assigned to hold audio files for messages will be displayed on the screen. XX – means audio file quantity found in catalog MESSA.

MUSIC XX – it’s information about audio files found in catalog MUSIC which is intended to keep audio files for background music. XX – means audio file quantity found in the catalog.

READ ERR – informs about mistakes in TIMING.TXT file or message file listed in TIMING.TXT file is missing.

ERROR codes:
XX ERR 01 – Wrong time format in schedule line XX.
XX ERR 02 – Wrong days of the week in schedule line XX.
XX ERR 03 – Audio file listed in schedule line XX is missed in folder MESSA.
XX ERR 04 – Gramma error in schedule line XX.
XX ERR 05 – Timing error. For example, two different messages are listed to play at the exactly same time. Check the schedule line XX.
