MIDcounter INSTALLATION
The MID counter is a certified energy meter that allows you to safely and reliably monitor the consumption of your wall box during each charging session.
Do not try to install the energy meter if you are not qualified as a
professional electrician. Such behavior can cause serious danger and harm to
you and to the people, things or animals around you.
Only energy meters provided by Free2move eSolutions S.p.A. are compatible.
Installation must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with local
regulations. Please refer to local regulations and user and wall box installer
manuals on www.esolutions.free2move.com/document-
library/ for more
information about the installation process.
Before carrying out any installation or maintenance work on the device, it is
must be ensured that the power supply is switched off.

Place the MIDcounter provided on the wall box electrical line, after the RCD and MCB.

For the three-phase or single-phase electrical connection, refer to the dedicated installation manual included in the MIDcounter package.

Feed the Modbus communication cables through the wallbox box sheath (C). Suggested cable: STP class 5E, 0.5 mm2 section.

Use the following order for connecting the communication cables from the MID counter to the wall box. Starting from left on the wall box RS485 output port “CN12”, connect:
- GND to SC
- RS485-B to B
- RS485-A to A

When powering up the MID counter for the first time, press and hold the touchscreen button until the display text blinks, then select the SETTING command and press and hold again to enter the setting menu.

Select COMMUNICATION command (COMM on single-phase meter), press and hold again to enter the connectivity menu.
Here set:- MID counter address: 1
- Bits per second: 38400 bit/s
- Parity: Even
- Stop bit: 1
- Connection mode: 3L+N “Arithmetic” (required for three-phase MID counter only)

Press and hold on ESC to go back. For three-phase Power Meter only, select INSTALLATION, press and hold to enter the menu.
Set:- Connection mode: 3L+N “Arithmetic”
MIDcounter AND PowerMeter INSTALLATION
If the MID counter is installed together with the Power Meter, they must be connected as shown in the diagram below:
Both devices must be connected on the same communication bus. Connect the Modbus communication cables as follows:
Now configure both the Power Meter and MID counter. Set the device address as following:
- Device address: 001 (Power Meter)
- Device address: 002 (MID counter)
Then set the following parameters on both devices :x`
- Bits per second: 38400 bit/s
- Parity: Even
- Stop bit: 1
- Connection mode: 3L+N “Arithmetic” (required for three-phase devices only)
CONFIGURATION OF THE MIDcounter
Download eSolutions Charging, a dedicated App available for Android and iOS that allows you to configure your wallbox and monitor the operating parameters .
- Log in on the App and associate the wall box to your profile by framing the personal QR code printed on your wall box, on the back of the external cover.
- Select the wall box connected to the meter and go to settings. Then click on MID counter.
- Enable the MID counter function by clicking on the button.
- The history of all certified charging sessions will be available in the dedicated MID counter section, where you can download the data in the form of a monthly report.
