\(1\)

  1. Disconnect power supply to prevent electrical shock or damage to product before installation. Recommend opening the Main breaker from power panel to disconnect power.
  2. Run line voltage wires to the thermostat location.
  3. The connection for Direct Load Control (DLC) is :
    • Connection from thermostat to the heating unit:
    • Connect one BLACK load wire from the thermostat to one of the line wire from the heating unit.
    • Connect the other BLACK load wire from the thermostat to the other line wire from the heating unit
    • Connection from the thermostat to the supply panel:
    • Connect the RED line wire from the thermostat (L1) to L1 line from the supply panel.
    • Connect the other RED line wire from the thermostat (L2) to L2 line from the supply panel.
  4. The connection for Contactor Control is :
    • Use two 16AWG wires (not included) to Terminal A inside the heater. (See example in diagram.)
    • Connect one RED line wire from the thermostat to one 16AWG line wire from the Terminal A. Then connect the BLACK load wire from the thermostat to the other 16AWG line wire from the Terminal A.
    • The other line wires from the thermostat should be affixed with insulating tape.
  5. Make sure all connections are secured, and no exposed wiring.
  6. Insert wires into the junction box, make sure not to damage wiring.
  7. Secure the ground wire to the ground screw provide in junction box.
  8. Remove the thermostat cover by grabbing the cover from the sides and pull it away from the base
  9. Mount the thermostat into the junction box and secure using the provided screws.
  10. Replace thermostat cover.

The installation of the thermostat must comply with the applicable local and/or national electrical code and utility requirements. This installation should be performed by a qualified electrician where required by law.

Ensure that all wiring connections to the thermostat are correct and tight to prevent electrical shorts. Use the appropriate wire to meet local and national electrical codes for rated power consumption.

PRODUCT SETUP AND SETTINGS

To adjust the temperature to your requirements, turn the dial on the thermostat clockwise all the way to turn heater on. When the room reaches the desired temperature, turn the thermostat knob counterclockwise until you hear the click. Leave in this position to maintain the room temperature at this setting. For additional heat, turn clock- wise until you hear the click and the heater will turn on.

  • Turning knob fully counterclockwise will disconnect the power to the heater.

CHANGING °C AND °F CONTROL DIALS

Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry off the control dial. Insert into one of the slots on the dial and gentle apply pressure to remove. To install the new control dial, line up the pins on the dial with the holes on the thermostat knob. Push together until secured into place.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Turn OFF the power at the circuit breaker before in- stalling. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician. Refer to thermostat and heater load specifications before installation of the thermostat to see if it can handle the amp load. The maximum this thermostat can run is 7756 Watts at 277 Volts, 6720 Watts at 240 Volts, 5824 Watts at 208 Volts and 3360 Watts at 120 Volts.

Install unit in a grounded metal or plastic wall junction box, indoors 4 ½’ to 5’ above the floor. Avoid any area where it can come in to contact with external sources of heat and cold. This includes plumbing pipes, direct sunlight, a T.V. set, lamps, and drafts from a door or window, as this may cause inaccurate temperature readings. The most convenient place is above the light switch. Not for outdoor use.

FAQs

Will this DR-975 thermostat also mount to a handy box (like a single gang switch or receptacle electrical box)?****

You can mount this to the wall.

What gauge wires are connected to the thermostat 12 or 10?****

The wire diameter depends on the amperage of the heater you are using. My heater is rated for just over 20 amps so I used 10 gauge wire.

What size outlet box do I need to use for this thermostat? There will be 4x 8-ga. wires coming in to the box, plus the 4 from the thermostat.****

I’d recommend a 4″ square (metal if surface mount and plastic if the box is recessed) box with a standard GFI switch cover. That cover gives necessary clearance for the t’stat. The t’stat will mount right up then and you’ll have enough room for those large ga. wires. There are other ways to do it but that’s the way I did mine.

I want to use the dr-001 wall thermostat with 4 wires, for dr.heater dr966 240 volt heater. do I have to cut the internal thermostat off ?****

Yes, you’ll have to bypass the internal thermostat.

DR-975 says compatible with double pole wall thermostat. How do you wire it to the unit that has just 2 16 gauge wires at terminal A?****

Didn’t use the thermostat.

How do you wire this 4 wire dr-001 as a single pole circuit on the dr-975 heater?****

240 4 wire 30 amp breaker.

Hello will this work with dr. heater dr966****

Yes, this will work with DR-966.

Will this work with the DR-910 10,000 watt heater? The description says up to in the 7000 watt range.****

The DR-001 wall thermostat will work on the DR-910F heater. This is an in line thermostat.

Will this work for baseboard heating? I have a home that has a bit more than 9 feet of baseboard length and keeps frying the smaller amp thermostats****

I had it on a 240V heater and the leads burned off after about 6 months. The product says its rated for that but I had the same issue with both of them. I won’t be using them again. I’ve installed many of these in the past without issue so I’m guessing they changed something since that time.

Can you connect 2 heaters to one thermostat?****

Yes, one thermostat can control two heaters with no issue.

How can my Dr heater be reset?****

Switch the circuit breaker OFF, wait five to ten minutes for the heater to cool down, then turn it back on to reset it.

Why won’t my infrared heater operate?****

Verify that the thermostat is not set too low if the appliance has one. Plugging in a known-working appliance will allow you to examine the electrical socket’s functionality. You may also check the circuit breaker or fuse box’s functionality.

How much power does the Dr. infrared heater consume?****

Although Dr. Infrared Heater and rival heaters both utilize 1500 watts of power, Dr. Infrared Heater delivers heat more effectively than competing heaters since they were developed with high-efficiency blowers.

Can I always have the infrared heater on?****

Yes, and this is the ideal method to set them up if you want an effective heating system.

What setting should I use for my infrared heater?****

It is advised to raise the room’s temperature to 22–23 degrees while utilizing the Jigsaw control system’s IR heating system, as opposed to up to 18.5 degrees with gas central heating. If you choose to put the infrared panels on the wall, you should also think about where you want to place them.
