Safety instructions

Warning!

  • Risk of injury through an electric shock.
  • Terminal connections to a 230 V network must be made by an authorised electrician.
  • Disconnect all connecting cables throughout the system before carry ing out installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure that the device cannot be accidentally switched on.
  • The provisions of the local public utilities and stipulations for wet and damp rooms in accordance with VDE 100 must be observed when the system is connected.
  • A potential-free control output is not suitable for safety extra low voltage.
  • For use with unmodified original SELVE parts only.
  • Keep persons away from the systems operating range.
  • An automatically controlled roller shutter or sun protection system can move unexpectedly. Therefore, never place objects in the travel range.
  • Keep children away from controls.
  • Always observe country-specific regulations.
  • If the system is controlled by one or more devices, the system operating range must be visible during operation.
  • Please observe the instructions for the roller shutter, sun protection system, motor and control.
  • Always adhere to relevant building regulations.
  • Automatic and manual movement when frozen (e.g. frozen wind wheel) and during storms can seriously damage the system.
  • The receivers (e.g. radio control) no longer function correctly after a power failure. In this case, an extended sun protection system cannot be retracted, e.g., during a storm.
  • Never use the control unit if the system or control unit are damaged.
  • Always retract the sun protection if a storm is imminent.

Explanation of displays and buttons

Explanation of displays and buttons

Setting the sun and wind threshold values

The values can be set with the i-R Marki Send WS and the i-R Marki Send Plus.
Please refer to these operating instructions for the setting.

Rain sensor (only i-R Marki WSRF)

The awning automatically retracts when it starts to rain. Automatic extension is pre vented.

Transmission control light

A radio signal is indicated by the transmission control light being lit.

Change-over switch awning/Venetian blind (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Transmit WS)

The control output of the sensor can be set to awning mode (bottom)/Venetian blind mode (top) via coding switch 1.

Change-over switch drive control device/group control device
(only i-R Marki WS/ WSRF)

The control output of the sensor can be set to drive control device (bottom)/group control device (top) via coding switch 2.

UP-/STOP-/DOWN button

Use these buttons to operate the system from the sensor (e.g. testing of the transmission path).

Programming button

Use this button to program the sensor into the receiver. Additional sensors can be programmed for the i-R Marki WS/WSRF.

General/Designated use

General
The i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Solar WS/Transmit WS controls the sun protection system based on solar intensity and wind speed. These values can be set via the i-R Marki Send WS and i-R Marki Send Plus. The i-R Marki WSRF also controls the sun protection system based on rain/snow and frost. The i-R Marki WS/WSRF has an additional control output for connecting a motor.

Designated use
The i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Solar WS/Transmit WS may only be used for controlling sun protection and venetian blinds systems

  • The i-R Marki Solar is unsuitable for controlling blinds that are also used for privacy during the hours of darkness, since correct functioning of the i R Marki Solar cannot be guaranteed at night. Automatic retraction occurs if the power supply is in sufficient.
  • Please note that radio sets cannot be operated in areas with increased risk of interference (e. g. hospitals, airports).
  • The remote control is only permitted for equipment and systems with which a malfunction in the hand-held transmitter or receiver does not present a risk to persons, animals or objects, or this risk is covered by other safety devices.
  • The operator does not enjoy any protection from disturbances by other remote signalling equipment and terminal equipment (for example, also by radio sets operated in the same frequency range in accordance with regulations).
  • Only connect the radio receiver to devices and systems approved by the manufacturer.

Installation/Connection

Note:
Ensure that the controls are not installed and operated in the vicinity of metal surfaces or magnetic fields. Metal surfaces or panes of glass with a metallisation within the transmission path can reduce the range considerably.

Radio sets transmitting at the same frequency could interfere with reception.

It should be noted that the range of the radio signal is restricted by legislation and constructional measures.

Installation
Choose a place where the sun intensity and wind speed parameters can be easily measured and, where applicable, objects such as trees and roofs do not affect the light intensity and wind measurements. The sensor can be used for numerous installation situations due to the adjustable wall mount.

Installation

Fix the mount to the wall with the two screws provided.

Functions of the i-R Marki Solar WS/Transmit WS

Functions

Functions of the i-R Marki WS/WSRF

Functions

Explanation of functions/terms used

Wind protection function

Retracts and blocks extension of the awning if the wind threshold value is ex ceeded (preset delay: 15 min.).

Sun protection function

Extends the awning if the sun threshold value is exceeded (preset delay: 5 min.).
Retracts the awning if the sun threshold value is not achieved (preset delay: 15 min.).

Rain protection function (only i-R Marki WSRF)

Retracts the awning and prevents automatic extension.

Frost protection function (only i-R Marki WSRF)

Prevents extension of the awning at temperatures below +4 °C.

Twilight function

Retracts the awning during twilight hours (mornings and evenings).

TEST MODE

It is possible to test the sensor in this mode. In the TEST MODE the times of the sun protection and wind protection functions are reduced from minutes to seconds. A possible wind alarm is reset.

Data transfer

The sensor transfers the current wind and sun values to the receiver via radio signals at approx. one minute intervals.

Awning indicates:

Wind alarm ➞ Manual extension is stopped after 2 sec. and the awning re tracts.
Sensor loss ➞ Manual extension is stopped after 4 sec. and the awning retracts.

Transmitter programming procedure

Transmitter programming procedure

Sensor as transmitter

Programming the sensor
Press the PROG button on the receiver or a programmed transmitter for 3 seconds (wait for confirmation: brief upwards and downwards movement of the motor). The receiver remains in programming mode for 1 minute. Briefly press (1 sec.) the PROG button of the sensor. The sensor has now been programmed.

Transmitter programming procedure

Functions in reprogramming mode
(only i-R Marki WS/WSRF, only for qualified personnel)
In order to carry out the following settings, the receiver has to be put into reprogramming mode by disconnecting it from the mains supply.

Note:

  • A transmitter has to be correctly programmed before it can be put into reprogramming mode.
  • The receiver remains in service mode for 4 minutes.
  • Only the put the receiver which is to be set into reprogramming mode.
  • In order to take a receiver out of reprogramming mode (e. g. 3 re ceivers at one fuse), the motor has to be actuated.

The receiver confirms the service mode by a brief up and down moving of the motor.

Reprogramming if a transmitter is faulty or lost
Only use if a programmed transmitter is no longer available (faulty or lost). In order to program a new transmitter, the receiver has to be put into reprogramming mode by disconnecting it from the mains supply. Subsequently press the PROG button of the new transmitter for 3 sec.. All the old transmitters have been deprogrammed.

Transmitter programming procedure

Reset the receiver to the factory setting
(only i-R Marki WS/WSRF, only for qualified personnel)
The factory setting means that no transmitter has been programmed and no intermediate positions have been set. In order to reset to receiver to the factory setting, the receiver has to be put into reprogramming mode by disconnecting it from the mains supply. Subsequently press the PROG button of the sensor for 9 sec..
