live views and playbacks. Organizations can use Vantage to manage all their
cameras in one place. The cameras can be organized by sites, buildings, etc.
New cameras can be activated within Vantage using the serial number of the

Once this is complete, your account is ready to use. User can now go to https://vantage.focusai.com and login to the organization.
4.3. Activate Camera
After you are logged into Vantage, next add your first camera by clicking the

organization such as active/inactive. It also provides summaries of the latest
events, latest people and vehicles seen.
Additionally, charts on various statistics are provided.
Figure 5: Vantage – Dashboard
4.5. View
View is the Vantage page on which users can view their cameras individually or
by sites. Vantage provides a powerful grid view feature where the user can
view their cameras in different layouts (1×1, 2×2, 3×3, 4×3, 6 camera view).
These layouts are easily selected with icon buttons at the top of the page.
Figure 6: Vantage – Viewing Live Streams
Vantage provides user with the ability to configure specific view by defining “Grids”. Grids can be created and configured using “Manage Grid” button.
4.6. Search
Search menu on the left side of Vantage provides users with access to people
and vehicle page.
In each of these pages, the user can see thumbnails of people seen by the
camera. In this view, the thumbnail presented are for people who are withing
certain distance from the camera. All presented thumbnails can then be used to
search for people.
There are several options to filter the results based on specific time range,
cameras, upper/lower color of people’s cloths, etc. Users can click on a
thumbnail and will be able to play the video event when that thumbnail was
captured.
Similarly, in the vehicle tab, the thumbnail of vehicles seen by the camera
are presented.

user clicks on any of the thumbnails, the corresponding recording of the
vehicle is played back.
Figure 7: Vantage-Search-Vehiclepage
4.7. Events/Alerts
Vantage provides a separate events/alert page that can be accessed from the
side menu. In the events page, all events identified by the camera are shown.
Unlike the Search Page where only people events that are searchable are
presented, in the events page all the events seen by the camera are present.
User can view all the events or use the provided filters to select people,
vehicle, person of interest, crowd, and weapons. Users can select individual
events and those event clips will be played.
Figure 8: Vantage – Events page
In the Alerts tab, users can configure Alerts using the “New Alert” button or modify alerts using the “Manage Alerts” button. Users can configure alerts to send out email notification when alerts are triggered.
4.8. Footprints
Footprints is a unique feature of Vantage where users can configure floorplan
and satellite view images to create a birds-eye-view of where the cameras are
deployed. Footprints can then allow users to see people presence on floorplan
as avatars with appropriate face thumbnails. This is special feature that
allows the user to have situation awareness of where people are present across
one or multiple cameras.
4.9. Merlin
Merlin is FocusAl’s intelligent agent. Merlin provides a natural language
interface to the recorded security footage. Traditional UX interfaces are very
cumbersome to use to search for events since the user needs to select time
range, camera’s, color, etc. through the user interface.
Figure 9: Vantage – Merlin usage
Merlin provides a simple interface to query the video database through natural
questions such as “find Chris yesterday” or “find fedex last Friday”. Vantage
Merlin provides a sophisticated interface to respond to natural language
queries from the user and presents the relevant data from the recorded video
footage.
Contact FocusAl customer support at
support@focusai.com for usage recommendation and
training on Merlin.
4.10. Settings
Settings page is the main admin page on which user can configure organization
level settings, device settings and user management. There are separate tabs
provided to the user for managing devices and user management. Access to
different functions is limited by the individual users access permissions. Org
Admin will have access to all the functions however other users will be
limited based on their roles and permissions.
