REQUIRED TOOLS

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Cordless drill with:
  • Phillips bit
  • 11/32″ drill bit
  • Wrench
  • Optional:  7/16″ metal drill bit

REQUIRED MATERIAL

In order to distribute the pressure on the bolts and thus strengthen the installation of your ladder, it is recommended to add reinforcements under the decking to distribute the load on several boards. If you cannot access the underside of the dock, you can carefully remove a few boards from the decking to install these reinforcements.

You will need:  2x (or 4x) 16″ board lengths ;

INSTALLATION OF REINFORCEMENTS

  • Position the triangular bases at the desired location on the dock using your ladder as a guide
  • Make sure the bases are parallel and mark the holes
  • Screw the boards under the dock decking
  • Pre-drill the bolt locations through the decking and reinforcement boards using a cordless drill with an 11/32″ drill bit.

INSTALLATION OF THE LADDER

  • Connect the steel cables to the small holes on the aluminum bases to avoid losing the positioning pins.
  • Place a protective disk between the triangular base and the ladder and lightly tighten the pivot bolt, leaving enough clearance to allow the ladder to swing up and down.

LADDER COMPATIBILITY

If your ladder is not already equipped with holes for this flip-up system, make sure that the handrail portion above the dock does not exceed 21 1/4″.

Here is how to drill the handrail uprights

  • Using a 7/16″ drill bit, make the PIVOT holes 10 5/8″ from the base of the ladder.
  • Drill the POSITIONING holes below the PIVOT hole using your ladder as a guide (in raised and lowered positions) or by measuring 2 5/8″ above and below the PIVOT hole.
