Proximity card reader instructions

First power on:
At first power on, the unit is set to ‘low-security mode’.
It will respond to all Velleman HAA86C/TAG(2) tags.
This allows you to use an unlimited number of tags for low-security applications.
The default relay pulse duration is 0.5s
Learning a tag to the unit:
You can learn up to 25 tags to the unit (high-security 64-bit code) Once a tag has been learned to the unit, the low-security mode is no longer active i.e. the unit will only respond to the learned tags. During the learning of the first tag, the pulse length of the output relay is also determined. The minimum relay pulse duration is 0.5s. The maximum relay pulse duration is 240s (4min). If the 240s period is exceeded during learning, the unit will operate the relay in toggle mode (ON/OFF)
To learn the first tag and set the pulse length to e.g. 5s*:

  • Press and hold SW1
  • Hold the tag in the proximity of the coil
  • The relay will pulse twice, to indicate that the tag has been stored
  • Next, it will pulse every second.
  • Keep the button pushed until the relay has pulsed 5 times
  • Release the button
  • During the learning of the first tag, the pulse length of the output relay is also determined.

Your unit will now accept a single tag. Every time the tag is held in the proximity of the coil, the relay will be turned on for 5s

To learn more tags

  • Press and hold SW1
  • Hold the tag in the proximity of the coil
  • The relay will pulse twice, to indicate that the tag has been stored
  • Release the button

A total of 25 cards can be stored.
If the memory is full, the relay will pulse 5 times

To erase a tag:

  • Press and hold SW1
  • Hold the tag in the proximity of the coil
  • The relay will pulse 3 times, to indicate that the tag has been erased
  • Release the button

Once all tags have been erased, the unit will revert to ‘low-security mode. It will accept all Velleman HAA86C/TAG(2) tags

To erase all tags and return to ‘low security

  • Remove power from the circuit
  • Press and hold SW1
  • Apply power
  • The relay will pulse 3 times, to indicate that all tags have been erased
  • Release the button

The unit is now set to ‘low security’-mode. It will accept all Velleman HAA86C/TAG (2) tags
The relay pulse duration will not be reset to the default time. This has been done to allow the user to program a relay pulse time, even in the low-security mode
