  • This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as
    – in shops, offices and other similar working environments,
    – in agricultural working environments,
    – by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
    – in bed-and breakfast type environments.

  • Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.

  • Children must only be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance if they are supervised and at least 8 years of age.

  • The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.

  • Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.

  • Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.

  • Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance.

  • Caution: Danger of burns. The housing surfaces, grill areas and mini-pans become hot during use and will remain hot for some time afterwards.

  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.

  • During operation, the appliance must be placed on a heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When cooking food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable.

  • This appliance should only be used with the attachments provided by the manufacturer.

  • Always allow sufficient time for the appliance to cool down before removing the grill plate, and before cleaning or storing the unit.

  • No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.

Before first use

  • Remove any packing materials completely.
  • Before switching on the appliance for the first time, clean the grill plate and mini-pans with a damp cloth.
  • Heat the appliance and the pans for about 30 minutes, without any food in, to eliminate the smell typically encountered when first switching on a grill (a small amount of smoke may also be noticeable). Adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors.
  • Let the grill cool down again.
  • Clean it as described in the section ‘Cleaning and care’.

Grill plate

  • Before the appliance is switched on, position the grill plate on top of the appliance over the heating element and lock it.
  • To lock, push the grill plate down and move it towards LOCK so that the protruding studs are safely engaged. ∙ To unlock, push the plate towards UNLOCK.

Operation

  • Fit the grill plate onto the unit, as described above. Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the appliance on.

  • After a pre-heating time of about 10 minutes, the grill plate is ready for use. Place the food to be cooked on the grill plate. We recommend first applying a light coat of oil to the plate to prevent sticking.

  • Put the raclette cheese into the minipans and place them into the appliance under the heating element; then leave them until the cheese has melted.
Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans in the appliance while it is switched on, but leave them on a heat-resistant surface.

  • Switch off and unplug the appliance from the mains after use.

How to prepare raclette cheese
Use about 200 to 300 grammes of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices about 3 to 5 mm thick and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese but any other fast-melting cheese is also suitable.
Practical hints

  • Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked.
  • To avoid damage to the coating of the mini-pans and the grill plate, only a wooden or heat-resistant plastic spatula should be used during grilling.

Cleaning and care

  • Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely.
  • To avoid any risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it in a liquid.
  • Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
  • Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth.
  • Take the grill plate off and clean the plate and mini-pans in warm soapy water; dry thoroughly with a soft cloth afterwards.
  • The individual parts are not dishwashersafe.
