GRUNDFOS COMFORT 10-16 Temp, Auto and Digital Timer Installation Guide
1. Limited warranty
Products manufactured by Grundfos Pumps Corporation (Grundfos) are warranted to the original user only to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 36 months from the date code listed on the nameplate of the pump. Grundfos’ liability under this warranty shall be limited to repairing or replacing at Grundfos’ option, without charge, F.O.B. Grundfos’ factory or authorized service station, any product of Grundfos manufacture.
Grundfos will not be liable for any costs of removal, installation, transportation, or any other charges that may arise in connection with a warranty claim. Products which are sold, but not manufactured by Grundfos, are subject to the warranty provided by the manufacturer of said products and not by Grundfos’ warranty. Grundfos will not be liable for damage or wear to products caused by abnormal operating conditions, accident, abuse, misuse, unauthorized alteration or repair, or if the product was not installed in accordance with Grundfos’ printed installation and operating instructions and accepted codes of good practice. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. To obtain service under this warranty, the defective product must be returned to the distributor or dealer of Grundfos’ products from which it was purchased together with proof of purchase and installation date, failure date and supporting installation data. Unless otherwise provided, the distributor or dealer will contact Grundfos or an authorized service station for instructions.

2. General information
2.1 Hazard statements
The symbols and hazard statements below may appear in Grundfos installation
and operating instructions, safety instructions and service instructions.
The hazard statements are structured in the following way:
2.2 Notes
The symbols and notes below may appear in Grundfos installation and operating
instructions, safety instructions and service instructions.
2.3 Pumped liquids
The product is suitable for domestic hot water with unrestricted water
hardness.
The kinematic viscosity of water is 1 mm2/s (1 cSt) at 68 °F (20 °C). If the
pump is used for a liquid with a higher viscosity, the hydraulic performance
of the pump will be reduced.
Example: 50 % glycol at 68 °F (20 °C) means a viscosity of approximately 10
mm2/s (10 cSt), reducing pump performance by approximately 15 %.
When selecting a pump, the viscosity of the pumped liquid must be taken into
account.
3. Receiving the product
3.1 Inspecting the product
CAUTION
Crushing of feet
Minor or moderate personal injury
‐ Wear safety shoes when handling the product.
- Make sure that the delivered product corresponds to the order.

4. Mechanical installation
4.1 Applications
COMFORT pumps are designed for use in domestic hot-water systems.
The pumps are suitable for open and closed systems.
4.2 Location
The pump is designed for indoor use in a non-aggressive and non-explosive
atmosphere.
Relative air humidity: Maximum 95 %.
4.3 Preparing the product for installation
The product has integrated power cable, check valves and isolating valves.
Before installing the product, observe the following:
• Flush the system of debris before installation.
• Refer to the arrows on the pump housing indicating the direction of the
liquid flow through the pump.
4.4 Mounting the product
4.5 Installing the temperature sensor
The following only applies to the AUTO pump variants: The attached temperature
sensor must be installed in the system in order to use the AUTOADAPT function.
Do as follows:
1. Turn the faceplate counterclockwise on the pump, to release the sensor
cable.
2. Pull out the sensor cable to the desired length. Do not pull the cable
downwards.
The maximum cable length is 8 ft (2.5 m).
4.6 Changing the pump head position
To change the orientation of the pump head, do as follows:
5. Startup
5.1 COMFORT Auto
To change the control mode on the pump, press the button on the operating panel. Press the button more times to change between the three available control modes:
• AUTOADAPT
This mode adapts the operating hours by switching on and off according to the
tapping pattern of the users as detected by the sensors attached to the hot-
water outlet.
• 100 % mode
The pump is running continuously at full speed.
• Temperature control
The operating range of the pump is kept within a predetermined temperature
range.
When a control mode is chosen, the corresponding LED is lit. If the LED
flashes, the pump is in standby. The sensor must be installed regardless of
what control mode the pump will run in.
5.2 COMFORT Temperature control
To change control mode on the pump, press the button on the operating panel.
Keep pressing the button to change between the two available control modes:
• Temperature control
The operating range of the pump is kept within a predetermined

- The ambient temperature must always be lower than the liquid temperature to minimize condensation in the stator housing, and not exceed 104 °F (40 °C).
9. Disposing of the product
- Use the public or private waste collection service.
- If this is not possible, contact the nearest Grundfos company or service workshop. See also end-of-life information at www.grundfos.com/productrecycling.
