Preamplifier

Welcome to the musical world of Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems. My team and I thank you for your purchase of the Momentum C2 Preamplifier,
and wish you endless high-end listening enjoyment!
–Dan D’Agostino, Founder & Chief Designer

MOMENTUM C2 PREAMPLIFIER WELCOME
Momentum preamplifiers are a cornerstone in our lineup, and we have elevated the familiar design elements of this platform to a new level. At Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems, ideas and concepts initially employed in other components often find their way into new designs. This is true for the Momentum C2 Preamplifier, starting with the fundamental concept of linking the power supply chassis to the audio chassis. The Momentum C2 Preamplifier features specialized electromechanical connectors integrated within each unit, providing the most direct connection between the power and audio chassis, first introduced in the flagship Relentless Preamplifier.
New concepts are also present in the Momentum C2 Preamplifier. The input stage has been significantly upgraded with a new circuitry called Complementary Four. This FET-based topology builds on our previous work with FET-based input stages and fully realizes its potential in the Momentum platform.
The Momentum C2 Preamplifier is the first Momentum preamplifier to offer modularity with an optional Digital Streaming Module (DSM). For listeners keen to incorporate digital playback within the same unit, coaxial, optical, and USB physical inputs join Ethernet and wireless connectivity for in-house network and internet streaming capability. Digital resolution includes support for files up to DSD256 and 32 bit/192K PCM accuracy. Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify streaming subscription services are included, and with

appropriately encoded music files, MQA decoding is standard. Customized apps for iOS devices provide easy control of the unit and streaming content.
The new, easy-to-use remote control is designed for you to fall in love with it. The bi-directional remote mirrors the information on the Momentum C2 Preamplifier’s front panel onto its own display screen, including input, volume, and balance settings. Additionally, with the optional DSM installed, music metadata is also shown on the display.
From the outside, the Momentum C2 Preamplifier is pure Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems. The iconic Momentum Series volume control fronts the preamplifier with a new display in the power supply, providing additional operational information. The Momentum C2 Preamplifier, like all our products, is hand-built by our technicians– true music lovers–in our Cave Creek, Arizona facility. We hope you enjoy your new Momentum C2 Preamplifier as much as we do.
Sincerely,
The Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems Team

Removing the component from its packaging While the Momentum C2 Preamplifier is still in its case, move it to a location near the place where it will be installed. Remove all jewelry including watches, rings, and belts from your person to avoid damage to the exterior of the preamplifier during unpacking and installation.
Installation requirements This component’s dense metal chassis makes it much heavier than most other preamplifiers, so make sure the surface that will support this component can safely hold its weight. There should be at least one inch of clearance on each side and three inches of clearance at the top. The preamplifier may be installed in a closed cabinet or in an equipment closet, but the space must be designed with ventilation at top and bottom. If plugging the Momentum C2 Preamplifier into a power strip or power conditioner, make sure it is a high-quality unit that does not alter ground connections or insert current-limiting elements in series with the AC mains signal.
Assembling the Momentum C2 Preamplifier The Momentum C2 Preamplifier transmits power and control signals through specially made, high-current connectors mounted in the front right foot of each chassis. To assemble the preamplifier, place the power supply chassis at the preamplifier’s final location. Place the audio chassis on top of the power supply

chassis. Carefully ensure that the bottom plate connector of the audio chassis makes solid contact with the top plate connector in the power supply.
Returning the component for service Should the unit need to be returned for service, use the original box and packing materials. To protect the finish during shipping, re-wrap the preamplifier in the protective packaging in which it was originally shipped. Make sure the unit is completely cool. Wrapping the preamplifier when it is warm will cause the plastic wrapping to leach into the component’s surface and will permanently damage the finish.

Making Connections to the Momentum C2 Preamplifier

Interconnect cables We recommend the use of high-quality balanced XLR audio interconnect cables. If a source device does not offer XLR connections, use high-quality RCA cables for Input 4. RCA-to-XLR adapters can be purchased from a Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems dealer.
Connect the source devices (Phono, CD player, etc.) to the appropriate inputs. Connect the XLR or RCA cables to the appropriate jack by pushing the plug into the jack. To release an XLR plug, push on the small tab atop the jack and gently detach the plug. Never grasp interconnect cables by the cable itself, as it can damage the cable. Be sure to connect the left channel to the left channel, and the right channel to the right channel. Note: Input 4 is standard line level and requires the use of a separate phono stage to enable turntable playback.
Now connect the Momentum C2 Preamplifier to the power amplifier(s). Connect each XLR cable to the amplifier input by pushing the cable onto the jack.

as a network connection and is required to utilize the network capability of the Digital Streaming Module, and an internet connection is needed to access streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, or Spotify. If available, we recommend using the hard-wired Ethernet connection. Alternatively, attach the Wi-Fi antenna for wireless operation.
The Ethernet cable pushes into the connector and locks. To remove the cable, press the tab on the underside of the connector and gently pull the cable out.
AC cord The Momentum C2 Preamplifier power supply is supplied with a high- quality AC cord tipped with a 15-amp IEC connector at the preamplifier end and a three-conductor AC plug at the other end. You may use a different power cord, if it is tipped with a 15-amp IEC connector and a three-conductor AC plug. After all cables are connected, push the IEC connector on the power cord into the IEC socket of the Momentum C2 Preamplifier power supply.

Optional Digital Streaming Module The optional Digital Streaming Module has connections for optical, coaxial, and USB digital cables. An Ethernet connection via RJ45 and a Wi-Fi antenna input are also included. One of these must be used
