Instructions
-
CORD CAUTION: Unravel cord before use. Failure to do so could cause overheating and possible fire hazard.
-
DISCONNECT CORD: Always disconnect cord at wall plug before removing the heating unit, filling, cleaning, or when not in use. IMPORTANT: The heating unit will not operate unless the plug has been disconnected from electrical outlet for about 1- 2 minutes prior to reconnecting.
-
REMOVE HEATING UNIT: Lift the rear heating unit cap and slowly rotate in counter-clockwise direction until the slanted portions of the two locking tabs are cleared. Then lift the heating unit directly upwards until the locking tabs are clear of the water reservoir.(Fig. 1)
-
ADD INHALANT (optional) AND FILL WATER RESERVOIR: Add 10mL (approx 2.5 capfuls) of Vicks® VapoSteam Inhalant (Fig. 2), then fill with ordinary cool tap water to the MAX water level marking on the water reservoir (Fig. 3). CAUTION: DO NOT OVERFILL. Use only Vicks® VapoSteam Inhalant. Do not add any other additive to the water or vaporizer cup. Use of other inhalants or additives may damage the unit and void the warranty.
-
REPLACE HEATING UNIT: Align the two locking tabs on the side of the heating unit with the two slots in the water reservoir. The heating unit will only engage the water reservoir in the proper orientation. Seat the heating unit into the locking tabs of the water reservoir, then rotate the head clockwise to hold unit in place.
-
PLACE VAPORIZER IN STABLE POSITION: Vaporizer should always be placed on a firm, flat surface. If sound is a consideration, it is important to know that the entire room humidifies uniformly so the Vaporizer should be placed on the opposite side of the room from the patient, at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) away. For safest operation, vaporizer should be placed on floor, where it cannot fall or be pulled down. Be sure the power cord is out of the way to prevent vaporizer from being upset. Protect floor, rug or furniture by placing the vaporizer on a non-metallic heat-resistant surface.
TIP: To further minimize sound, reduce exposure of hard surfaces by closing curtains and placing rugs on hardwood floors. -
CAUTION: DO NOT direct steam flow directly at patient, walls or furniture. Patient will still obtain desired level of humidity.
-
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN OR INFIRM PERSONS; STEAM CAN CAUSE BURNS. This appliance is not intended for use by young children without supervision. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
-
EXTERNAL VAPORIZER CUP: The vaporizer is also fitted with an external vaporizer cup located in front of the steam outlet vents. This can be used as an alternative to or in addition to adding Vicks® VapoSteam Inhalant directly to the water reservoir. Using both methods will increase vapors.
To use, fill the vaporizer cup with Vicks®
VapoSteam Inhalant. (Fig. 4) CAUTION: DO NOT OVERFILL. Do not use any other brand of inhalant as it may damage the unit and void the warranty.
After vaporizer shuts off, empty any remaining residue from the vaporizer cup and clean with a soft tissue. Add fresh inhalant after refilling water reservoir. -
PLUG IN VAPORIZER. IMPORTANT: Vaporizer will NOT START unless vaporizer has been disconnected for at least one minute. Nightlight will illuminate when electricity is connected. This will indicate that the heating unit is functioning.
Vaporizer will produce a gentle flow of steam within a few minutes. Do not lift or move the vaporizer while in use. Please note: Vaporizer will produce a noise similar to a kettle boiling. -
OPERATION: Vaporizer will shut off automatically when the water reaches a minimum level (about 2 centimeters from bottom of container).
-
VENTILATE ROOM REGULARLY: When vaporizer is used in closed or small rooms, check periodically for proper ventilation, as excessive humidity can cause condensation on walls.
-
AFTER EACH USE: Wait until the vaporizer cools down, empty any unused water from the container. Rinse container thoroughly, drain and wipe with a dry, clean cloth. To maintain proper operation of your vaporizer, be sure to follow CARE AND CLEANING instructions.
-
