STAINLESS STEEL

According to 21 CFR 110.40 (a), food-contact surfaces shall be corrosion- resistant when in contact with food. They shall be made of nontoxic materials and designed to withstand the environment of their intended use and the action of food, and, if applicable, cleaning compounds and sanitizing agents. Food- contact surfaces shall be maintained to protect food from being contaminated by any source. 21 CFR and the FDA have determined that certain materials meet the requirements of materials Generally

Regarded As Safe, or GRAS. Materials deemed GRAS are considered corrosion- resistant and nontoxic by nature, and as such deemed safe for food contact without further testing. Alloys of Stainless Steel that contain more than 16% chromium are universally considered as GRAS.

The following products are constructed from Stainless Steel containing in excess of 16% chromium, as evidenced by the following material certification, and are therefore deemed safe for food contact under GRAS by both 21 CFR and the FDA:
