Cinnamons Block Talk Stars with Janet

Supplies to bring to class

Instructor: Janet Wells (scrapjan@comcast.net)

Sewing machine in working order with all cords and pedals, machine feet and your machine manual
Grid Glider (if you use it for ¼” seams and to avoid having to mark many seams)
Cotton piecing thread and bobbins already wound and ready to sew
Perkins Perfect Seam Guide
Scissors and snips
Rotary cutter and rulers (we always recommend Creative Grids rulers and at least one ruler that is 6 ½” x 24 ½” and at least one additional ruler) For this class a Tribology Squared or XL ruler will come in very handy and make your cutting easy!
Seam ripper
Pin cushion and pins
Small iron and ironing mat or wooly mat
Quilt clips and small post it notes for organizing your cutting

Fabric

If you are using t-shirts for your blocks you will need to purchase enough Heat n Bond soft for all of your shirts. This will need to be applied before class.

Please see the pattern for block requirements. This pattern can use 10”-12” squares/rectangles. We will calculate the yardage needed for your framing strips and stars in class or you can follow the pattern and figure it out before class. You will need your blocks, star and framing fabric for class. You will not need binding or backing fabric in class.

Before Class

Have your fabric pressed and starch (if desired) and have your center pieces cut out before class.
If you are using t-shirts, you will need to have each lined with Heat Bond soft BEFORE cutting your center square. ALL CENTER PIECES MUST BE THE SAME SIZE-THEY CAN BE SQUARES OR RECTANGLES BUT THEY MUST BE THE SAME SIZE!
