NESCO SSFM-1QT Stainless Steel Food Mill

Product Information

The NESCO Stainless Steel Food Mill is a versatile kitchen tool designed for home preservation. It comes with various components such as locking tabs, milling discs (fine and medium), locking bar, and blades. This food mill is ideal for mashing and straining a variety of foods to create smooth purees or sauces.

Product Usage Instructions

Assembly:

Place the milling disc of your choice into the center of the food mill with the dome-shaped surface facing up.
Insert the handle pin into the center hole of the milling disc.
Position the locking bar so that both sides are located beside both locking tabs.
Firmly push down on the locking bar and rotate clockwise until it is lined up with the locking tabs.
Slowly release the locking bar and ensure it is properly connected to the locking tabs.

Using the Food Mill:

Place the food mill over a bowl or saucepan and add the food to be milled into the food mill.
Turn the handle clockwise, turning the blades over the milling disc to mill the food.
The mashed food will fall through the perforations into the bowl. Use a rubber spatula to scrape off any remaining food on the disc.
Discard any skin, seeds, or fiber left in the food mill after use.

Cleaning:
It is recommended to clean the food mill immediately after use to prevent food from drying in the holes of the milling disc.

Before Using:
Pre-soften firm foods like potatoes, apples, and pears by steaming or baking until tender before using them in the food mill.

Changing Discs:

Press down on the locking bar and rotate counterclockwise to release the handle assembly from the food mill housing.
Remove the current milling disc from the bottom of the food mill housing.
Place the new milling disc into the center of the food mill for use.

It is best to clean the food mill immediately after use to prevent food from drying in the holes of the milling disc.

Before Using

It is best to pre-soften some foods before use. If the food is firm, like potatoes, apples, and pears, remember to soften them by steaming or baking until tender before using them in the same food mill.

Changing Discs

Carefully press down on the locking bar and rotate the locking bar counterclockwise to release the handle assembly from the food mill housing.
Remove the milling disc from the bottom of the food mill housing.
Place the new milling disc into the center of the food mill with the dome-shaped surface facing up.
Follow the assembly instructions numbers 2-5 to complete the assembly of the food mill.

Safety & Cleaning Rules

Before and after each use, disassemble and wash all parts of the food mill in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry. The food mill is top-rack dishwasher safe.
Check that all parts are operating properly and perform the intended functions, Check for alignment of moving parts or any other conditions that may affect the operation. If the product is not working properly contact Consumer Service.
Never use your fingers to scrape food away from the milling disc while the unit is in operation. Severe injury may result.
Do not attempt to grind bones, nuts, or other hard items.
The manufacturer declines any responsibility in the case of improper use of this unit.

No peeling or coring is required to make your favorite applesauce! Use the fine disc for smooth, or medium disc for chunky.
Add just the right texture to your mashed potatoes with the medium or coarse disc.
Make homemade gnocchi quickly and easily, the medium disc is ideal for ricing potatoes.
Purèe tomatoes without time-consuming prep. Skins and seeds are removed when milling, making a delicious tomato-based sauce simple to create.
Make homemade baby food with your own carefully selected ingredients; use the fine disc to purèe peas, carrots, squash, and more.
Turn blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries into preserves, jellies, and jams with medium and fine discs.
