Nesco GWK-03D Electric Kettle
- This product is designed for household use only
- When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

- To protect against fire, electrical shock, and personal injury, do not immerse this appliance, including cord and plug, in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove the plug from wall outlet.
- Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. To avoid hazards, return the appliance to NESCO® Factory Service Department for examination, repair or adjustment. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electrical burner or in a heated oven.
- Do not use the appliance for other than the intended use described in this manual.
- Do not use metal scouring pads on the exterior surface of the appliance.
- Scalding may occur if lid is lifted during the boiling cycle or when the unit is hot.
- Use the kettle with only the base station supplied.
- Be sure the kettle is properly located on the base station before switching it ON.
- Do not remove the kettle from the base station until it is switched OFF, either manually or automatically.
- Remove the kettle from the base station before filling or pouring.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- This appliance is intended for use in households and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, farmhouses, and bed/breakfast-type environments.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Polarized Plug: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). To reduce risk of electric shock, the plug is intended to fit into
a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not try to modify the plug in any way.
Short Cord Instructions: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the
risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension
cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the cord should be at least as
great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The longer cord should be
arranged so that it will not drape over the tabletop where it can be pulled on
by children or tripped over unintentionally.
Parts
- HINGED LID: For easy filling, cleaning and storage, the lid is hinged and can be opened with a push of a button. Lid is attached and cannot be removed.
- LID RELEASE BUTTON: Thumb-action control opens the lid with the gentle press of the release for easy cleaning and filling.
- SPOUT: Large opening for easy pouring.
- REMOVABLE FILTER: The filter will prevent unwanted particles from entering your drink. It is important to keep the filter clean, so we made it easy to remove. Follow care and cleaning instructions.
- STAY COOL HANDLE: Always use handle when moving kettle. Remains cool during use for safe use.
- WATER LEVEL MARKINGS: Always fill kettle with cold water between the minimum and maximum levels.
- POWER INDICATOR LIGHT: Lights will appear when the appliance is heating and off when desired temperature is reached. TEMPERATURE CONTROL BUTTONS: Press to select the desired temperature (175°F, 190°F, 200°F and Boil).
- ON/CANCEL BUTTON: Press the button to turn on power to the base. Button can be pressed to CANCEL heating cycle at any time.
- BASE STATION w/ CORD STORAGE: Allows the kettle to be placed on the base in 360° rotation, giving you the flexibility to position the base anywhere on the counter. Underneath the base station you can wrap the cord for easy storage and adjust the length to meet your needs.
Before the first time use

Read and understand all instructions and keep them for future reference.

Remove all packaging and labels.

Clean all parts, except Base, following the ‘Care and Cleaning ’ section in this book.

Wipe the Base with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. WARNING: NEVER IMMERSE
THE BASE OR KETTLE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
Operating Instructions
- Unwrap the cord and place base station on a sturdy and flat surface.
- Open the kettle lid by pressing the lid release button located on the handle. Lid will hinge open automatically.
- Fill with cold water up to the desired level between the minimum and maximum levels for the proper functioning.
- Do not overfill past the maximum level. Boiling water may spill out and cause severe burn injury.
- Never fill the kettle with anything other than water, do not add instant soup or use to heat any food.
- Gently press the lid down until it locks into the closed position.
- Place kettle onto base station. Be sure kettle is securely placed, it should be flat and center on base. If correct, connect cord to electrical outlet.
- Gently press the ON/CANCEL button then press desired temperature setting.
- When water reaches the set temperature the control button will begin to flash, indicating the heating cycle is complete and will keep water warm for 30 minutes. If select BOIL the kettle will cycle once and turn off.
- Lift the kettle by the handle and slowly tilt to pour water from spout into cup.
- Before disconnecting plug from the electrical outlet, always turn off the kettle or lift kettle from base station.
Care and Cleaning Instructions

- Remove cord from an electrical outlet and make sure kettle has cooled before handling.
- Clean the base by wiping it with a clean, damp, cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Wipe dry.
- Rinse the interior of kettle using clean water and gently wipe dry using lint-free cloth.
- Do not leave standing water in the kettle. Always discard unused water and dry interior surfaces when not in use.
- To remove filter, open lid and lift tab on filter to inside. Filter will hinge, grasp with fingers and gently remove.
- It is normal to see the stainless steel cover of the heater plate at the bottom of the kettle to change color after use or if your water has high iron content brownish stains may appear and can be removed with cloth and mild stain remover.
- Boiling water can leave behind harmless, white calcium deposits inside the kettle and mainly on the stainless steel heater cover. Use a commercially available decalcifying agent or add 1 oz. vinegar to the water, fill to a minimum level and run BOIL cycle.
Hint : If the kettle switches off before water is reaches set point, it may need to be decalcified. Frequency depends on the hardness of water and the number of uses.
ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
This appliance is warranted for one year from date of original purchase
against defects in material and workmanship. This warranty does not cover
transportation damage, misuse, accident or similar incident. This warranty
gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights, which vary from
state to state. This product is intended for household use only, not for
commercial use. Warranty does not cover commercial use.

appliance comes equipped with numerous safety features. Any attempt to
interfere with the operation of these safety features makes this warranty null
and void. In the event we receive an appliance for service that has been
tampered with, we reserve the right to restore it to its original state and
charge for the repair. For service in warranty – Defective products may be
returned, postage prepaid, with a description of the defect to The Metal Ware
Corporation, 1700 Monroe Street, Two Rivers, Wisconsin 54241, for no-charge
repair or replacement at our option. Must include proof of purchase or copy of
original bill of sale when returning the product for warranty service. Please

- If we instruct you to send all or part of your appliance to us for repair or replacement, our Customer Satisfaction representative will provide a Return Authorization number (this number notifies our receiving department to expedite your repair). Pack your unit carefully in a sturdy carton with sufficient padding to prevent damage because any damage caused in shipping is not covered by the warranty.
