NESCO CU-30 Professional Coffee Urn
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
This product is designed for household use only – When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

To protect against electrical shock and personal injury, do not immerse this appliance, including cord and plug, in water or other liquid.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or
near children. -
Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact NESCO Customer Service for assistance.

The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

Do not use outdoors.

Do not let cord hang over edge of the table or counter, or touch
hot surfaces. -
Do not place on or near a hot gas or electrical burner or in a
heated oven. -
Do not use appliance for other than its intended use, as described in
this manual -
Extreme CAUTION must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

Always place appliance on a flat and sturdy surface.

While in use, keep appliance out of the reach of babies and children.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Short Cord Instructions: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

RESET BUTTON:
- Remove plug from electrical outlet. Allow appliance to cool.
- Press button lightly to reset.

BEFORE FIRST TIME USE
- Read and follow all instructions and save for reference.
- Remove all packaging and labels.
- Clean all parts, except Base, following instructions in the ‘Care and Cleaning ’ section.
- Wipe the Base with a damp cloth.
- TO REDUCE RISK OF SHOCK HAZARD NEVER IMMERSE THE BASE IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID.
OPERATION
-
Remove lid and filter basket. Fill with COLD WATER to desired amount on water gauge. Do not fill more than the MAXIMUM fill mark on water gauge or operate when the level is below the bottom of the water gauge sight tube.

Place filter basket on tube and insert pump tube firmly into the heating element inside the urn body, at the center. This will assure proper pump action.

Add coffee grounds evenly into filter basket. No paper filter required. (1 Tbsp = 1 cup or to taste).

Place lid in position and turn clockwise to lock into place.

Check power switch is OFF position. Plug cord into grounded 120V. electric outlet. Press power switch ON, the red HEATING light will turn on to indicate start of
brew cycle. -
When finished brewing the green KEEP WARM light will turn on indicating contents are ready to serve and will keep contents warm until unit is turned OFF. During the warm cycle you may hear noises similar to brewing, this is normal and the unit is not brewing but only keeping contents warm.

NEVER OPERATE APPLIANCE EMPTY OR AS A HOT WATER URN. This can damage the heating element. Using appliance against intended use will void warranty.
RESETTING APPLIANCE OVERHEAT PROTECTION
This appliance has an overheat protection device that will automatically stop heating if operated without enough water or ambient temperatures are too high.
- To reset – Remove cord from electrical outlet and allow appliance to cool. Located on the side of the unit is a button that must be pressed once to reset device.
- Check that the switch is in OFF position and insert cord into grounded 120V outlet.
- Your unit is ready to use. If this does not work, contact The Metal Ware Corporation Customer Service Center 800-288-4545 or email nescocs@nesco.com.
CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
- Before cleaning turn off any switches and ensure the power cord is removed from the electrical outlet and allow appliance to cool.
- Empty remaining liquid by removing lid, basket and pump tube and pouring liquid into drain.
- Wipe the outside area with a damp cloth and dry with a lint free cloth.
- Never place appliance in water or other liquids
- Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. DO NOT use Baking Soda because it can pit the metal and discolor permanently.
- Allow to dry before storage.
- Some water has higher mineral content that can discolor the inside of the urn body. To remove these stains fill to desired level with COLD WATER use several tablespoons of vinegar or Cream of Tartar powder. Allow to heat for one BREW cycle, then turn power OFF and remove plug from wall outlet. Drain solution, rinse and clean as noted above.
WARRANTY
ONE-YEAR LIMITEAR LIMITED ED WARRANTY
The Metal Ware Corporation warrants the original purchaser that your product
will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year
from date of purchase. Product must be used for personal or sole household
usage in accordance with the instructions. Should your product prove defective
within one year from date of purchase, contact our customer service team at
1-800-288-4545 or email at
nescocs@nesco.com with an explanation of the claim. If a viable warranty claim
is determined, a customer service member will provide you with the necessary
details to have your unit replaced. Under this limited time warranty, we
undertake to replace any parts found to be defective at our sole discretion.
This limited time warranty is void if the unit is connected to an unsuitable
electrical supply or dismantled or interfered with in any way or damaged
through misuse. This warranty is not transferable.LIMITATION OF REMEDIES AND
DAMAGES: Except for the limited time warranty and remedies expressly stated
above, the Metal Ware Corp shall not be liable to you, or to anyone claiming
by or through you, for any obligations or liabilities, including, but not
limited to, obligations or liabilities arising out of breach of contract,
breach of warranty, statutory claims, negligence or other tort or any theory
of strict liability, with respect to the product or the Metal Ware Corp’s acts
or omissions or otherwise. Buyer agrees that in no event shall the Metal Ware
Corp be liable for incidental, compensatory, punitive, consequential,
indirect, special or other damages. Warranty does not cover consequential or
incidental damages such as property damage and does not cover incidental costs
and expenses resulting from any breach of this warranty, even if foreseeable.
Some states or provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitations of
incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may
not apply to you depending on the state or province of purchase.
