Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off. Engage the parking brake.

To access the Steering Rack:

  1. Remove the dust covers from the steering rack.
  2. Remove any residual debris around the steering rack.

Step 2: Procedure

Expose the Rack:

After sliding the dust cover off the steering rack, turn the steering wheel to one side so that the steering rack has reached its maximum travel limit.

Placing Rack Alignment Tool:

Slide the FDF rack alignment tool onto the rack until it is butted against the inner tie rod end. Ensure it sits securely without falling off.

Centering Steering Rack:

Turn the wheel in the opposite direction until it cannot be moved. Ensure the alignment tool is straight and positioned flat in the rack housing.

Step 3: Reassembly

Reinstall any components that were removed for access. Double-check all connections and fastenings for any loose or improperly secured components.

Step 1: Preparation

  • Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off. Engage the parking brake.
  • To access the Steering Rack:

Remove the dust covers from the steering rack. Remove any residual debris around the steering rack.

Step 2: Procedure

Expose the Rack:

  • After sliding the dust cover off the steering rack, Turn the steering wheel to one side so that the steering rack has reached its maximum travel limit, as shown in the picture.
  • Verify that the steering rack has reached its maximum travel limit and that there is no suspension interference causing any binding. Remove suspension if necessary to eliminate any suspension bind.

Placing Rack Alignment Tool:

  • Now, Slide the FDF rack alignment tool onto the rack until it is butted against the inner tie rod end as shown in the figure.
  • The rack alignment tool will be a fight fit and will sit on to the rack without falling off.

Centering Steering Rack:

  • Now, Turn the wheel opposite way until the steering wheel cannot be moved.
  • Make sure that the alignment tool is straight and positioned flat in the rack housing.
  • Your Steering Rack has been centred. Please make a necessary changes if required.

Step 3: Reassembly

  • Reinstall any components that were removed for access.
  • Double-check all connections and fastenings for any loose or improperly secured components.
