Run Time
The operating time of the PXC battery (the amount that can be cut with a single battery charge) is largely dependent on the type of the timber (e.g. hardness, moisture, thickness, etc.) the sharpness of the chain and your rate of work. Frequently turning the equipment on and off will also reduce the runtime and amount that you can cut. If the operating time of the PXC battery (runtime) is still unsatisfactory in spite of the above measures, you can remedy the problem by using a PXC battery with a larger capacity (Ah).
WARNING!: DO NOT OPERATE THIS CHAINSAW WITH LONG LOOSE HAIR OR LOOSE FITTING JEWELLERY. TIE LONG LOOSE HAIR BACK AND REMOVE LOOSE FITTING JEWELLERY.

2. Press and hold the Safety Switch (a) with your thumb or finger, then squeeze the On/Off Trigger (b). The pruning chainsaw starts after a short delay.

3. The chain will now be running, ready to make a cut. Release the Safety Switch (a).

Switching OFF
Release the On/Off Trigger, the chain and motor will quickly stop. Note: The motor brakes the saw chain as soon as the On/Off Trigger is released.
WARNING!: ALWAYS DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY WHEN YOU STOP WORKING OR MOVING FROM ONE AREA TO ANOTHER, EVEN IF IT IS ONLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

Running in the Chain
Prior to operation, a new chain should be run in for 23 minutes and then its tension should be checked and adjusted as detailed in `Adjusting the Chain Tension.’
IMPORTANT: IT IS VITAL FOR THE PROPER AND SAFE OPERATION OF THE CHAINSAW THAT THE CHAIN IS TENSIONED CORRECTLY.

5. APPLICATIONS

WARNING!: THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR USE BY A COMPETENT TRAINED PERSON. THIS USER MANUAL IS A GUIDE ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS A TRAINING MANUAL. PLEASE SEEK PROFESSIONAL TRAINING BEFORE USE.
WARNING!: DO NOT OPERATE THIS PRUNING CHAINSAW IN A TREE, ON A LADDER, FROM A ROOFTOP, EWP (ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM) OR UNSTABLE SUPPORT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

WARNING!: ALWAYS USE THIS PRUNING CHAINSAW WITH BOTH HANDS. NEVER HOLD LIMBS WITH ONE HAND AND OPERATE THE PRUNING CHAINSAW WITH THE OTHER. FAILURE TO HEED THIS WARNING MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY.

Limbing

WARNING!: DO NOT STAND ON THE LOG. BE ALERT TO THE FACT THAT THE LOG MAY ROLL OVER. WHEN WORKING ON A SLOPE, ALWAYS STAND ON THE UP HILL SIDE OF THE LOG.

Limbing is the process of

removing the branches from

1

a fallen tree. Check the

direction in which a branch

will bend before cutting it.

Always cut on the opposite

side to the bending direction

2

so that the guide bar is not

pinched in the cut. For large limbs that cannot be removed in one cut,

make an initial cut from the bent side and finish by sawing from the

opposite direction. Do not remove limbs that are supporting the fallen

tree on the ground until the tree has been cut into lengths.

Bucking

Bucking is cutting a log into lengths

for easier handling. To saw a log

lying on the ground, first saw

halfway, then roll the log over and

cut from the opposite side. To saw

the end of a log supported off the

ground, first saw up from the bottom

1

2

one-third through the log then finish

by sawing down from the top. To saw a log in the middle of two

2

1

supports holding it off the ground, first saw down from the top one-third

through the log then finish by sawing up from the bottom.

CAUTION: FIRST AVOID CUTTING THE GROUND AS THIS WILL VERY QUICKLY DULL THE CHAIN.

Pruning
WARNING!: DO NOT USE AN UNSTABLE FOOTHOLD OR LADDER. DO NOT OVERREACH. DO NOT SAW ABOVE SHOULDER HEIGHT. ALWAYS USE BOTH HANDS TO HOLD THE CHAINSAW. FIRST CUT UP FROM THE BOTTOM AND FINISH DOWN FROM THE TOP.

Pruning is the removal of a limb or branch from a standing tree.

Hints and Tips

· Do not force the saw into the cut. Apply only light pressure whilst

running the chain.

· If the saw chain gets caught in the cut, do not try to remove it by

twisting the guide bar or pulling forcibly. Use a lever or wedge to

open up the cut so that the saw chain is freed.

· Keep your left arm with elbow locked in a “straight arm” position to

withstand any kickback force.

· Before cutting ensure the chain is not making contact with the material being cut.

· While cutting, always:

Run the pruning chainsaw motor at

full speed. This makes the job safer, as

there is less chance of pull-in or kickCHAIN

back.

LINE

Position your body to the left of

STRAIGHT ARM POSITION

the chainsaw so if it kicks back

uncontrollably, it goes over your right

shoulder, never stand in the cutting line

of the saw.

Keep a firm grip with your left hand on the front handle.

MAINTENANCE

6. KICKBACK
The term `kickback’ describes what happens when the running chain catches on the wood being cut and the pruning chainsaw recoils back suddenly. Usually, this is caused by contact between the tip of the guide bar and the workpiece or the saw chain becoming trapped. In the event of kickback, large forces occur suddenly and violently. As a result, the pruning chainsaw usually reacts uncontrollably. This can often result in very serious injuries to the worker or persons in the vicinity. The risk of kickback is particularly great when performing cross cuts, angled cuts and longitudinal cuts. You should therefore avoid these cuts as far as possible and take particular care when they are unavoidable. If you place the tip of the guide bar in cutting position, the leverage effect and therefore the risk of kickback will be at its greatest. It is safest therefore to always position the saw as flat as possible.

WARNING!: BEFORE CLEANING YOUR PRUNING CHAINSAW OR CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS REMOVED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL STARTING.

WARNING!: ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING THE CHAIN. THE CHAIN CUTTERS ARE SHARP AND COULD CUT YOU.

Chain Sharpening

Do not attempt to sharpen the chain yourself unless you have the necessary special tools and experience.

Chain File: 3.5mm (0.13″)

Chain Pitch: 7.62mm

Chain Gauge: 1.0mm (0.039″)

Sharpen the chain regularly to maintain optimum performance of the saw. Signs

of a dull chain are:

· The sawdust becomes powder-like

· Extra force is required to execute a cut

· The cut does not track in a straight line

· Increased vibration

Sharpen each cutter using a

round 3.5mm (0.13″) chain file. Keep the file level with

30°

30°

the top plate of the tooth. Always use outward strokes

LEFT HAND CUTTERS

and maintain a 30° angle

between the chain and file.

After sharpening, the cutters must all have the same width

RIGHT HAND CUTTERS

and length.

After every 34 uses get an

authorised repair centre to

professionally sharpen your chain. They have the special tools necessary to

ensure the correct cutting angles and depths.

Cleaning and Storing
· Keep the handles free of grease so that you can maintain a firm grip.
· Keep air intake clean and air vents free of debris to avoid overheating the motor.
· After each use, blow it with compressed air at low pressure through the motor housing to ensure it is free from all dust particles which may build up. Build up of dust particles may cause the unit to overheat and shorten the life of the pruning chainsaw.
· If the pruning chainsaw is not to be used for an extended period of time Briefly immerse the chain and the guide bar in an oil bath and then wrap them in oil paper.
· Ensure that the chain & bar cover is in place when storing.
· If the enclosure of the pruning chainsaw requires cleaning do not use solvents but a moist soft cloth or soft brush only. Never let any liquid get inside the chainsaw; never immerse any part of the chainsaw into liquid.
· Replace worn or damaged parts for safety
· Remove the battery from the pruning chainsaw when in storage.
· Store the equipment and its accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5°C and 30°C.

WARNING! NEVER IMMERSE THE UNIT IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS IN ORDER TO CLEAN IT.

WARNING! STORE THE PRUNING CHAINSAW IN A SAFE AND DRY PLACE OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage
or injuries caused by the repair of the Pruning Chainsaw by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the Chainsaw. This machine is designed for DIY use – use in commercial or industrial environments will void the warranty.

Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  1. General chain saw safety warnings:
    · Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the chain saw is operating. Before you start the chain saw, make sure the saw chain is not contacting anything. A moment of inattention while operating chain saws may cause entanglement of your clothing or body with the saw chain.
    · Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand on the front handle. Holding the chain saw with a reversed hand configuration increases the risk of personal injury and should never be done.
    · Hold the chain saw by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the saw chain may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Saw chains contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the chain saw “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
    · Wear eye protection. Further protective equipment for hearing, head, hands, legs and feet is recommended. Adequate protective equipment will reduce personal injury from flying debris or accidental contact with the saw chain.
    · Do not operate a chain saw in a tree, on a ladder, from a rooftop, or any unstable support. Operation of a chain saw in this manner could result in serious personal injury.
    · Always keep proper footing and operate the chain saw only when standing on fixed, secure and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces may cause a loss of balance or control of the chain saw.
    · When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for spring back. When the tension in the wood fibres is released, the spring loaded limb may strike the operator and/or throw the chain saw out of control.
    · Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings. The slender material may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance.
    · Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the chain saw switched off and away from your body. When transporting or storing the chain saw, always fit the guide bar cover. Proper handling of the chain saw will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the moving saw chain.
    · Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioning and changing the bar and chain. Improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or increase the chance for kickback.
    · Cut wood only. Do not use chain saw for purposes not intended. For example: do not use chain saw for cutting metal, plastic, masonry or non-wood building materials. Use of the chain saw for operations different than intended could result in a hazardous situation.

· Do not attempt to fell a tree. Serious injury could occur to the operator or bystanders while felling a tree. · This product is NOT a Toy. Not for use from persons under 16yrs of age. 2) Causes and operator prevention of kickback: Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator. Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw which could result in serious personal injury. Do not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your saw. As a chain saw user, you should take several steps to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or injury. Kickback is the result of chain saw misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below:
· Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the saw and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper precautions are taken. Do not let go of the chain saw.
· Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height. This helps prevent unintended tip contact and enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected situations.
· Only use replacement guide bars and saw chains specified by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement guide bars and saw chains may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
· Follow the manufacturer’s sharpening and maintenance instructions for the saw chain. Decreasing the depth gauge height can lead to increased kickback.
WARNING! When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other
parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed by a qualified service technician.
Danger! Always remove the battery from the pruning chainsaw:
· when the equipment is left unattended,
· when the equipment is being checked, cleaned, or having maintenance work done,
· after striking a foreign object. Inspect the appliance for damage and make repairs as necessary.
· or if the equipment vibrates abnormally.

BATTERY & CHARGER SAFETY WARNINGS
Before using the charger or battery read all instructions and cautionary markings on the charger, battery pack and the product using the battery pack. Do not lose these safety instructions.
Battery Warnings 1. The battery pack is not fully charged out of the carton. First read the safety instructions and then follow the charging
notes and procedures. 2. For optimum battery performance avoid low discharge cycles. Charge the battery pack frequently. 3. Use and store the battery pack in dry conditions with low humidity between 0-50°C, ideally at 15°C. Avoid exposing
battery pack and charger to direct sunlight. 4. Do not keep battery pack in places where temperatures are liable to reach over 50°C, such as in a car, metal shed or
similar that is in direct sunlight. 5. Do not ignite the battery pack or expose it to fire. There is a risk of explosion! 6. Do not exhaustively discharge batteries. Exhaustive discharge will damage the battery cells. The most common
cause of exhaustive discharge is long-term storage and continued use of low- charge batteries. Always store the battery with some charge. Charge the batteries every 2-3 months to restore charge. Stop working as soon as the performance of the battery falls noticeably or the electronic protection system triggers. 7. Protect batteries and the tool from overloads. Overloads will quickly result in overheating and cell damage inside the battery housing without this overheating being apparent externally. 8. Avoid damage and shocks. Do not use batteries which have been dropped from a height of more than one meter or strong external impact, even if the housing of the battery pack appears to be undamaged. The battery cells inside the battery may have suffered serious damage. 9. If the battery pack suffers overloading and overheating, the integrated protective cut-off will switch off the equipment. Do not press the ON/OFF switch on the tool if the protective cut-off has actuated. This may damage the battery pack. Allow the battery to cool to room temperature before use. 10. Use only original battery packs. The use of other batteries may result in injuries, explosion and a fire risk. 11. Protect your rechargeable battery against moisture, rain and high humidity. Moisture, rain and high humidity can cause dangerous cell damage. Never charge or use batteries which have been exposed to moisture, rain or high humidity. 12. Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack is damaged, do not use the battery. 13. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. 14. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If accidental contact occurs, flush with water and seek medical help immediately. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. 15. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury. 16. Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion. 17. Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer. 18. 18. Do not disassemble Battery. This may result in a risk of electric shock, electrocution or fire.
Charger Warnings 19. Please check the data marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Ensure to only connect the battery charger
to a power supply with the voltage marked on the rating plate. 20. Protect the battery charger and its cable from damage and sharp edges. Have damaged cables repaired by an
authorised service agent before use. 21. Keep the battery charger, batteries and the cordless tool out of children’s reach. 22. Do not use damaged battery chargers. 23. Do not use the supplied battery charger to charge other cordless tools. Only charge Ozito Power X Change
rechargeable batteries with an Ozito Power X Change Charger. 24. The battery pack may become warm during use. Allow the battery pack to cool to room temperature before
