- Wooly clapper or seam stick for opening seams
Pattern: Will be distributed in parts during the retreat but will need to be purchased PRIOR TO retreat!
Fabric:
There are THREE fabrics you will need. You can choose each as one full piece
or a combination of colors (more scrappy). For example, Fabric B is basically
your background color. You can choose one fabric at three yards OR combine
various background fabrics for a total of three yards.
Your choice! If you need a bit of help, beginning March 1st, we will have
some combinations you can see in the shop to help you in your color choices. If you wish, you can come by the shop and have our amazing shop workers pull a kit for you. Make sure to bring this supply list! FABRIC NEEDS:
- Fabric A: your main fabric forming the main “design” of the quilt you will need 1 ¾ yards total
- Fabric B : background fabrics-you will need 3 yards (this includes your borders
- Fabric C: highlight fabrics that form a smaller portion of the quilt pattern. You will need 5/8 yard.
You will want to make sure there is good contrast between each of the fabric sets. Multiple prints for the Fabric A fabrics are a good idea!
You will NOT need the following for retreat weekend but measurements are
included here in case you want to purchase ahead of time.
Binding: 5/8 yard
Batting: 62” x 80”
Backing: 3 ½ yards (includes your 4” overhang on each side)
BEFORE CLASS:
Please iron, starch (if you choose) and cut all fabrics BEFORE the weekend begins so you have LOTS of time to sew and create! There are truly too many folks at retreat weekends to plan to cut your quilt during the retreat.
Fabric A:
Cut 72 @ 4” square
Cut 24 squares @ 3 7/8” square (these will be cut diagonally-you can cut at
home or cut during retreat)
