GENERAL WARNINGS

  • Category 3 personal protective equipment protects against the risk of falling from a height, which could lead to serious or fatal injuries. It must only be used by a competent person trained to comply with instructions for use and safety.
  • Perform a visual check of the equipment before using it.
  • The anchoring device should only be used by one person. You have to be in good physical condition to use this product.
  • Do not use this product if you have any doubts whatsoever. Have a rescue plan ready during normal use of the product and in case of emergency.
  • The components of the safety system must all be certified by the standards in force. Full understanding and practice on the ground are essential before use in the field. Prior to hanging the strap, ensure that all safety points have been checked along the entire length of the safety system (a set of several articles within which the safety function of each of the articles is affected by that of the others, and any interference with a safety function can pose a safety risk for the user).
  • No change or addition to the product can be made without our written agreement.
  • Only use the product within the limits that have been set, and do not use it for lifting!
  • In the case of resale in a foreign country, supply this information sheet in that country’s language.
  • Avoid positioning the stitching on an angle or in a crease; choose a place where the stitching remains flat and is not in contact with another component or support.
  • Humidity and frost are factors that increase risks.
  • Do not pass a rope directly through the loop, this will lead to overheating! As a minimum, use a carabiner.
  • Do not use the loop strap on sharp, cutting edges; there is a risk of death because the strap can break under pressure.

GENERAL USE

  • This polyester loop strap for creating an anchoring point is personal protective equipment that protects against the risk of falling from a height.
    • Loop strap EN566:2017 for use in climbing/mountaineering
    • Temporary anchoring device EN795 type B:2012 for professional use
  • The structure on which you attach the loop strap must have a 15 kN breaking strain and must not be abrasive or have sharp edges.
  • The loop strap should be used in temperatures ranging between -40° C and +80° C.
  • You are responsible for the use and upkeep of this product, be sure to observe the safety instructions.

USING INSTRUCTION

USE – WARNING
MOUNTAINEERING AND CLIMBING LOOP STRAP EN566:2017

The breaking strains given are those for new products leaving the factory.

  • Knots considerably reduce the product’s breaking strain.
  • Distribution of the load according to the angle:

Do not fall onto the loop strap: it is preferable that the loop remains taut and that the rope or a shock absorber takes the impact rather than the loop. The latter could break under the impact, especially if you are above the anchoring point!

  • The use of a STRING on a loop strap is prohibited!
  • When using this product, the risks are high and could lead to death; make sure you fully understand all the safety instructions.
  • Humidity and frost make it more difficult to use this product!
  • Knots considerably reduce the product’s breaking strain!
  • Chemical products can considerably impair the loop strap!

ANCHORING DEVICE EN795B:2012

  • The anchoring point must be located above the user!
  • If there is a risk of falling, avoid falling onto the loop strap. The loop should remain taut. You must have a fall arrest system to limit the force to 6Kn.
  • For safety reasons, you must check that there is the required free space beneath the user where the work is being carried out before every possible use so that in case of a fall there is no collision with the ground and there is no obstacle along the trajectory of the fall.
  • A fall arrest harness is the only body-holding device that is permitted for use as part of a fall arrest system.
  • The loop’s breaking strain depends on how it is attached, abrasive or sharp edges pose a risk!
  • The maximum dynamic resistance load on the structure is 870 daN.

STORAGE

  • The product should be stored in a dry, ventilated building, away from sunlight and UV rays.
  • Dry the product thoroughly before storing it.
  • Transport the product in a bag to protect it.

MAINTENANCE

  • Wash by hand in clean water (30° max.) and dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use a high-pressure hose or a washing machine.
  • Do not dry in a dryer, close to a heat source, or in sunlight; it is best to let it dry in ventilated premises at room temperature and away from sunlight.
  • No repair can be made to the product.

LIFETIME

This product has a lifetime of 15 years and can be used for a maximum of 10 years Many factors can reduce this lifetime, right from the first time the product is handled. It is difficult to give a precise lifetime since this depends on the frequency of use, the care taken of the product when in use, and the quality of the storage conditions. Using the product causes it to deteriorate; be sure to check the product before and during use.

INSPECTION AND SCRAPPING

  • Your safety depends on the product’s robustness. An inspection is essential to check that events have not altered the product’s effectiveness.
  • An inspection of the product should be made at least once every 12 months by a competent and/or trained person. A tracking sheet must be completed and signed by the inspector.
  • The label includes a yearly table for inspections. It shows the last inspection that was carried out and should be completed at the same time as the tracking sheet.

The product should be scrapped when:

  • It has stopped a fall
  • Its lifetime has expired
  • The markings are absent or no longer visible
  • It has cuts and burns (on the strap and/or the stitching)
  • It has been in contact with oils or chemical products
  • The stitching is loose, broken, or damaged
  • The strap fibers are loose, broken, or deteriorated
  • It is very worn
  • Sand is present
  • There is any doubt… (non-exhaustive list)

A product that has been put to one side can only be used again once a competent person has given written authorization to this effect.
