Intended use

This device is exclusively for the cutting of polystyrene and hard foam, particularly those type boards used for facades, roof insulation or cellar insulation.

Safety information

It is essential to heed the safety information!

  • This device may be used by children aged 8 or over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instruction regarding the safe use of the appliance and understand the resulting hazards. Children must not play with the appliance. Children may not carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks unless they are supervised.

  • Make sure that the power cord does not come into contact with heat, oil or sharp edges. Damaged power cords can cause fires, short circuiting and electric shocks.

  • If the power cord of this device is damaged, to avoid danger it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its customer service or by a similarly qualified person.

  • This appliance has a polarized plug (US-type: one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

  • Failure to use the device with care may result in a fire. Cutting blades can reach temperatures of up to 500°C. To prevent accidents, the cutting blade must not be touched after the trigger has been pressed. Do not use the device in a potentially explosive atmosphere, remove all flammable materials/liquids before use, use a heat-resistant work surface and keep your working area clean.

  • Before use, inspect the device for damage and check that the cutting blade is firmly in place in the correct position. If damaged, do not use; contact customer service.

  • For reasons of safety and licensing (CE), the unauthorised modification and/or alteration of the heat cutting machine is not permitted.

  • Protect the tool from liquids and moisture, as these can cause fires, short circuiting and electric shocks.

  • When working indoors, the fumes generated during cutting must be extracted with a suction device or only work in well-ventilated rooms.

  • The hot cutting blade must not be brought into contact with heat sensitive or flammable materials or with skin, hair etc.

  • Do not leave the device unsupervised while it is operating. During longer work interruptions, the device should be disconnected from the power supply.

  • After use, allow the tool to cool down before putting it away.

  • When the device is not in use, store it in a safe place and protect it from dust and moisture.

  • National and international occupational health and safety provisions must be observed.

  • Wear suitable protective clothing, protective gloves and protective goggles when working. Liquid plastic and splashes can cause severe burns or eye damage!

Commissioning
  1. Unscrew the binding screws.
  2. Insert the cutting blade.
  3. Tighten binding screws again carefully.
  4. Before you plug in the tool, check the voltage which is indicated on the label.
  5. When you press down the switch the cutting blade heats up. After about 6-8 secs. the suitable cutting temperature is received.
  6. The blade may be cleaned with a metal brush while it is still warm.
  7. After working release the switch of the heatcutter

The device is not intended for continuous use, but for intermittent operation. The operating period under suitable heat dissipation conditions is 12s. The device must then be turned off for 48s.

Disposal

The symbol of the crossed-out garbage can means that the device must not be disposed of with household waste! An unusable device can be returned to the retailer or manufacturer free of charge or handed in at a designated collection point for electrical and electronic waste.

If the old electrical or electronic device contains personal data, you are responsible for deleting it yourself before returning it.

Guarantee

You have 1 year’s warranty on this heat cutting machine following acceptance; the warranty does not include the cutting blade. This warranty covers all defects that result from possible material or production faults.

The warranty shall be invalidated in the case of improper use or misuse. Please only use original cutting blades from HSGM. All warranty entitlements shall be invalidated if other brands are used.
