Note: For outdoor use, you must seal the white cap with Teflon tape or use other methods to prevent the ingress of moisture. And the seal must be reapplied whenever batteries are changed or cap is removed, or the warranty will be volid. Expected consumption readings will vary as temperature fluctuates.

Note: The product only contains A smart tank meter, the other five tools need to be purchased by yourself.

Step 1:Remove the original smart tank meter or sealing bolt

Use the pipe wrench to remove the original smart tank meter or sealing bolt and clean the pipe opening.

Step 2:Apply sealant to the threads of the tank meter.
Installation

Use a brush to apply sealant to the threads of the tank meter.

For outdoor installations, PTFE tape or other white sealing caps must be used to prevent the ingress of moisture. The expect oil level and consumption readings will vary as the temperature changes.

Note: Most tanks have 2″ NPT fittings on top. For tanks with 1.5″ fittings, an adapter is required, this adapter which needs to be purchased by yourself.

Step 3:Apply sealant to the threads of the tank meter.
Installation

After applying sealant, mount the tank meter vertically on the tank and use a pipe wrench to tighten the smooth area above the threads.

Step 4:Put batteries in

Unscrew the screw cap of the smart tank meter, take out the black box with the battery and install. After installation, there is a switch behind the box, turn OFF of the switch to ON.

Observe the indicator light on the panel, make sure the power is on to complete the configuration.

CONFIGURING THE NETWORK

Download Application

Search for ‘Smart Oil Meter’ in the App Store or on Google Play. Register an account and Log in.

Tools needed for installation

Click “Add a Device” in the upper right corner to select the Smart Oil Meter for connection.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Connect your smart phone to the Wi-Fi network that you would like the Smart Oil Meter to connect to.

If you have a 5GHz network, disconnect from it, and connect to the 2.4GHz network instead.

Configure the Smart Oil Meter so that the cell phone can find it

Press the switch next to the LED lamp for 5 seconds.

Press the switch for 5 seconds, wait for a second till the LED flashes in blue and connect within 2 minutes.

It will take 15-60s to connect the device, please wait.

Note: Quick connection requires you to turn on the Bluetooth of your mobile phone. If you don’t want to, observe the blinking frequency of the indicator light and click “Start” to select the corresponding frequency to connect.

Fuel tank configuration

After connecting the fuel level meter to your phone, please continue to click the next step to bind your fuel tank to the Smart Oil Meter.

Just follow the steps and select the corresponding tank list on your phone according to your fuel tank.

If the tank list of your phone does not have the one you want, you can click on ‘Custom Fuel Tank’ and enter the relevant information.

Note: After adding the tank, the device will report the first data at the nearest integral time, if you want to get it now, please press the button on top of the device once.

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an autlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

This equipment should be installed and operated with a minumum distance of 20 cm between the radiator and your body

TROUBLESHOOTING

Configuration failed

Check your password, Make sure you are on a 2.4GHz network.

Make sure your phone is within a few feet of the Smart Oil Meter during the entire configuration process.

Check if your Wi-Fi is in good condition, or you can try to get closer to the router and configure.

Check if there is a red light under the black battery box. It should flash twice per second in configure mode, If there is no red light, spin the batteries and try again.

Note: Please DO NOT hold on the configuration button after the device is successfully connected, or it will trigger a device reset, which will require you reconnect or delete the device and reconnect.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I don’t know if I have a 275 or 330 gallon tank; how can I tell?

275 gallon tanks measure 5 feet long; 330 gallon tanks measure 6 feet long.

Can I force an instant reading of the tank level?

you can trigger a manual reading by press the configuration button for 0.5 seconds, then refresh the app.

I changed the password of my Wi-Fi network, how can I update my device?

If you modified the name or password of the Wi-Fi, you can remove the device and then reconnect.

Why is the sensor data inaccurate?

When the distance between the sensor and the maximum oil level is less than 10 inches, the following factors will cause the sensor data fluctuates
(Tank is in the outside, temperature changes, too much sediment in the tank, etc.)

Where should I install the Smart Oil Meter on my oil tank?

The Smart Oil Meter should be put in one of the openings on the top of the fuel oil tank. There is typically at least one unused opening with a plug in it (one opening is used for the existing gauge, one is used for the fill pipe, and another for the vent). Simply unscrew the plug from one of the unused openings and install the Smart Oil Meter in its place.

Are there any monthly fees?

No, there are no monthly oil tank monitoring fees.
