SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Caution! Refrigerating compressors are pressurized machines and therefore require particular careful and meticulous handling.

  • Only qualified staff are allowed to handle refrigerating compressors.
  • Local safety regulations, accident prevention regulations, technical rules and other valid specifications must be observed.
  • The maximum tolerable operating overpressure may not be exceeded (not even for test purposes).
  • Before starting the compressor, the pressure shut-off valve and suction shut-off valve are to be opened.
  • Before starting up, check that all components mounted by the user have been properly mounted and are connected pressure-tight with the compressor (e.g. pipelines, bungs, union nuts, replaced parts, etc.)
  • When starting up, do not start the compressor in a vacuum. Only operate the compressor when the whole system has been filled.

General

These installation instructions describe the main procedure involved in retrofitting a thermal protection thermostat (PTC sensor) to semi-hermetic compressors.

Installation on the cylinder cover

  1. Decommission compressor in compliance with the safety instructions stated above and enclosed. Then (see figs.):
Loosen the marked cylinder cover screw.

  2. Place the cable holder with cable clip under the screw head of the cylinder cover. Tighten the cylinder screw again with torque M=75 Nm.

  3. At the intended connection point L, remove the NPTF 1/8″ bung from the cylinder cover, insert the thermal protection thermostat and screw tight.

  4. Then fix the connection cable in the cable clip.

Fig. 5 shows how the cable is routed along the cylinder cover of the compressor.

Installation on the compressor housing at HG44e

HG44e
If you use only one thermal protection thermostat, connect it centrically to the compressor housing. Using several thermal protection thermostats, connect them – as described on page 2 – to the cylinder covers.

Electrical connection

Connection to trigger unit INT69 G:
Connect the cable ends of the thermal protection thermostat to the connection cable of INT69 G as per fig. 7. It is advisable to use thermal protection thermostats at every single pair of cylinders. The thermostats are then connected up in series to a connector block (see fig. 7) in the terminal box.

Thermal protection thermostat

Connection to motor protection unit INT69 G Diagnose:
Remove resistance from terminals B1 and B2 of the trigger unit.
Insert the cable ends of the thermal protection thermostat to terminals B1 and B2 as per fig. 8. Several thermostats must be connected up in series.

Connection to motor protection unit INT69 GTML Diagnose:
Insert the cable ends from the thermal protection thermostat at terminals 3 and 4 as per fig 9. Several thermostats must be connected up in series.
