[Hitomezashi Sashiko patterns: “one-stitch”] Welcome to Sashiko 101– the
relaxing and creative Japanese Embroidery. Various tools, methods and tips
will be discussed to enhance your understanding and build your skills with
sashiko. This class will focus on ways to blend your handwork, quilting and
artistic skills to enhance your methods of personal expression. In addition to
information concerning threads, needles and fabrics, 4 projects will be used
to teach different aspects of beginning sashiko designs. Since this type of
stitching is time-involved, sashiko components will be introduced for you to
finish at your leisure. Sashiko 101 PROJECTS include: a Stenciled Block (#0),
a Sashiko Pin Cushion (#1), a Needle Book (#2), and a Tote bag (#3). May you
find much JOY while you use your creativity to apply these skills to use age-
old designs to enhance your quilting, home decor, clothing, artworks and
