RJ-2V Red Jasper Low Gain Drive Pedal

Thank you for choosing a Free The Tone product. Please read this user’s manual thoroughly to ensure that you’ll benefit fully from the advanced features, performance, and reliability your Free The Tone product is designed to provide.

About the Product

The Free The Tone RED JASPER (RJ-2V) is a low gain overdrive that can provide sensitivity and responsive tone plus a natural and comfortable compression feel usually obtainable only from a good tube amplifier. The RED JASPER is very versatile and can be used not just for creating a good comping sound, but also, for example, for adding the RED JASPER sound to a clean sound, making your guitar tone stand out from the band, or it can be used as a booster.
The RJ-2V has two internal switches to select low-end frequency characteristics for lower register sound adjustment. You can select one from four modes that have different low-end frequency characteristics.
From setting A to setting D, the cut-off of the bass range’s low-end is gradually stronger.
Setting A SW1: ON / SW2: ON
Setting B SW1: ON / SW2: OFF
Setting C SW1: OFF / SW2: ON (※initial setting at shipment from factory)
Setting D SW1: OFF / SW2: OFF

The RED JASPER is also equipped with Free The Tone’s original HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) circuit that protects the bypassed guitar signal from becoming too thin or losing tonality.
The LED indicator on this unit functions not only to show the effect on/off status but also to monitor the battery voltage. When the voltage becomes lower than about 6 V, the LED starts to dim. Although effect sound is still available in this state, we recommend to exchange the battery with a new one to keep full performance of this product.

Precautions

Inserting or removing a plug from the input jack while the unit’s output is connected to an amplifier/speakers that is turned on can cause noise that can damage the speakers. If the unit mal-functions or behaves abnormally, cease operation immediately and refer the problem to the supplier. If the unit will not be used for an extended period of time, remove the battery to prevent damage due to chemical leakage from the battery. When the battery voltage drops too low for proper operation the effect sound may become weak, the output level may drop, or no output will be produced at all. Be sure to replace the battery as soon as possible if such symptoms occur.
