SKC 223 Series Standard Five Station Charger

Product Usage Instructions

Introduction

The SKC Ltd five station chargers provide five charging outputs with a fixed 16-hour constant current charge for SKC NiCd and NiMH battery packs. At the end of the 16-hour charge, the chargers automatically switch each of the five outputs individually to a trickle charging rate to prevent overcharging.

Warnings

  • Do not use the chargers with products other than the specified SKC pump models.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Indoor use only with an enclosure rating of IP40 to protect against moisture exposure.

Charger Operation

  1. Select the correct electrical supply input plug for your region and connect it to the charger power supply unit.
  2. Plug the charger power supply unit into an electrical socket and switch it on. The ‘power’ LED indicator will turn red.
  3. Connect a charger output connector to the battery pack’s charging socket. The charger output LED indicator will illuminate yellow continuously, indicating full-rate charging.
  4. After the 16-hour charging period, the charger will switch to a trickle charging rate automatically, flashing the output LED indicator on and off.
  5. Disconnect the charger from the battery pack after 24 hours to maintain battery life and performance.
  6. When not in use, disconnect the charger from the electrical supply to save energy consumed on standby.

Q: Can I use this charger with non-SKC products?

A: No, these chargers are designed specifically for use with SKC pump models and should not be used with any other products.

Q: How long should I leave the battery pack connected to the charger?

A: It is recommended to disconnect the battery pack from the charger after 24 hours of continuous charging to maintain optimal battery life and performance.

Introduction

  • The SKC Ltd five station chargers provide five charging outputs with a fixed 16-hour constant current charge for SKC NiCd and NiMH battery packs.
  • At the end of the 16-hour charge, the chargers automatically switch each of the five outputs individually to a trickle charging rate to prevent overcharging.
  • The chargers are supplied with four inter-changeable electrical supply input plugs suitable for use in the United Kingdom, Europe, USA / Canada, and Australia / New Zealand.

Warnings

  • These chargers are designed for use specifically with the stated SKC pump models and are not intended for use with any other SKC or non-SKC products.
  • Use of the charger with unintended products may cause damage to the product and/or the charger.
  • These chargers must not be used to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • These chargers are for indoor use only, with an enclosure rating of IP40, and must therefore be protected against exposure to moisture.
  • Operating temperature range – 0°C to +40°C, 95% RH non-condensing.
  • Use of a non-SKC charger to charge SKC pump battery packs may cause damage to the battery pack and/or pump and will void the battery pack and/or pump warranty, also the intrinsic safety rating of the pump may be invalidated.

Charger Operation

  1. Select the correct electrical supply input plug for your region and fit it into the charger power supply unit.
  2. Plug the charger power supply unit into an electrical supply socket and switch on the electrical supply. The ‘power’ LED indicator will illuminate red.
  3. Plug a charger output connector into the charging socket on a battery pack. The charger output LED indicator will illuminate yellow continuously to indicate that the charger is charging at full rate. Any combination of the five charger outputs may be used simultaneously and battery packs can be connected at any time, as each charger output is individually controlled.
  4. After the fixed 16-hour charging period the charger will automatically switch the output to a trickle charging rate, and the output LED indicator will flash on and off to indicate this.
  5. It is recommended to disconnect the charger from the battery pack after 24 hours to maintain optimum battery life and performance.
  6. It is recommended to disconnect the charger from the electrical supply when not in use to save the energy the charger consumes when on standby.

  • SKC battery packs fall within the scope of the EU Directive 2006/66/EC and the 2009 UK Regulations on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators and equivalent legislation in other regions.
  • Batteries must be collected and treated separately from other waste, and those containing mercury, cadmium, and lead are subject to special treatment.
