FAQs

  • What makes Danger Jones’s semi-permanent colors different from other brands?
    • What makes our semi-permanent colors different from other brands is their consistency and vibrancy. Our unique creamy viscosity makes it easier to apply and saturate the hair, which also means you use less product to get full coverage. Also, all our colors are highly pigmented which gives a bold vibrancy to them. Even our pastels have guts to them, they’re not flimsy.
  • How long should I wait to wash my hair after my hair has been colored?
    • For maximum longevity, we recommend waiting 2-4 days after a semi-permanent color service before shampooing.
  • Do I need to pre-lighten the hair to apply Danger Jones semi-permanent colors?
    • For the most vibrant color results, we recommend pre-lightening (bleaching) the hair before applying our semi-permanent colors. Use the color chart on the back of the packaging to help you decide how light to bleach for maximum vibrancy and what colors look best on different hair color levels. Be sure to fully shampoo and rinse out all the bleach. Any residue left in the hair will compromise your color results.
  • Do I need to use a developer/activator to mix the colors?
    • No. Danger Jones semi-permanent colors are used straight out of the tubes and applied directly to clean, dry hair.
  • Can you mix Danger Jones semi-permanent colors?
    • Yes. All the colors are inter-mixable for customized color results. Be creative!
  • How do I use “Clear”?
    • You can use Clear in three ways: to add shine, dilute, or blend from a bright color into blonde or lighter ends. When using to dilute deeper colors, start with Clear and then slowly add in the deeper color to pastelize. Clear can also be used on its own to give shine and condition to all hair colors and textures. Use Clear by itself to create a color melt transition from a deeper color into blonde or lighter ends.
  • Are any colors UV reactive?
    • Yes, we have 5 UV reactive colors that glow under black light: Ray Gun (neon yellow), Adrenaline (neon green), Lovesick (neon pink), Hotwire (neon orange), and Vertigo (neon blue). Vertigo has the weakest UV reaction because it’s blue which is the deepest of the primary colors and black light emits a blue-purple UVB light so not enough phosphors are available in a blue color to reflect electrons. The UV reaction of these colors loses intensity when mixed with non-reactive colors.
  • Can I mix a bond builder into Danger Jones semi-permanent colors?
    • Yes, you can add a liquid bond builder to our semi-permanent colors. Follow the mixing instructions of the bond builder.
  • Can I apply semi-permanent colors to wet hair?
    • Yes, our semi-permanent colors can be applied to damp hair. However, keep in mind this may significantly decrease the brightness and color longevity.
  • What happens if I leave Danger Jones semi-permanent colors on longer than 35 minutes?
    • Nothing negative happens. It simply may start to dry and create a soft shell making it slightly harder to rinse out of the hair.
  • How long can I expect my semi-permanent color to last?
    • People ask how long they last, but we like to say how long do they fade…because they’re designed to fade. What makes our colors different is they fade into lighter pastel versions of themselves. Lighter tones can last up to 20 washes. Deeper tones can last up to 40 washes. *Of course, this all depends on application and home care.
  • How can I extend the life of my colour?
    • To extend the life of your colour, shampoo no more than twice a week using cool water and color-safe shampoo and conditioner.
    • Shampoo your scalp/roots only and let the shampoo rinse over the rest of your hair. Dry shampoo is also recommended between washes.
    • Avoid using hot water, chlorine pools/hot tubs, ocean/lake water, and direct sunlight for extended periods. If you use well water, a shower filter will also prevent any mineral deposits in your hair which can alter your color.
