A: Yes, continuous zippers are acceptable for use with the serger. However, for this class, two 15 inch or longer nylon zippers are recommended. -
Q: What type of thread should I use with the serger?
A: It is recommended to use Maxi Lock Serger thread. Ensure you have 4 cones of different colors for variety.
Most zippers can be installed with a serger. Having a selection of different feet for your serger is helpful but not mandatory. We will install two zippers in class using two different techniques. We will go over more techniques as time allows so you are welcome to bring more zippers.

- Serger cleaned and oiled, power cord, control foot
- Presser Feet: clear, cording or piping, regular if you have them.
Materials
- 4 cones of different color Maxi Lock Serger thread
- Two 15 inch or longer nylon zippers (this is what we will install) Continuous zippers are acceptable.
- Any other zippers for discussion.
- 2 or more fat quarters.

- Sharp Serger Needles
- Fabric Scissors
- Paper Scissors
- Small nippers or embroidery scissors
- Frixion Pen or other fabric marking pen
- Sharpie or other felt tipped pen (does not have to be permanent)
- Rotary cutter and Ruler
- Fabric clips or Pins
- Notepad and pencil for taking notes
