Device Background:
The Splunk Edge Hub SPLKEH201GL (Actineon Part Number 99-00001-01) is an edge
hub gateway designed for gathering environment data. Users will primarily
interact with the device via the cloud although there is a touch screen to
allow for user input. The development team can also interact with the device
via direct commands through an ethernet connection. At present, the user
interface is still in development. For the purposes of safety testing,
Actineon has loaded software onto the sample devices that will automatically
simulate maximum normal operation (LEDs will be on and the processor will be
running a normal maximum level).
Installation:
The Edge Hub can be rack mounted or placed free standing on a desk. The user manual includes mounting instructions and the samples include rack mounting equipment. Note : Some of the photos demonstrating mounting in the current version of the user manual are formatted such that they are not fully displayed and thus we have included full size images in the installation folder. The edge hub can either be powered with the USB-C power adapter included with the sample or via PoE with any Cat-5e cable (or newer version). The Edge Hub can be installed in two ways:
- Rack mounted: Follow the mounting instructions provided in the user manual.
- Free-standing on a desk: Place the device securely on the desk.
Powering the Device:
You can power the Edge Hub using either of the following methods:
- USB-C Power Adapter: Connect the included adapter to the device.
- PoE (Power over Ethernet): Use a Cat-5e cable or newer version to power the device.
Test Set-Up:
Upon powering up the device, it will automatically simulate normal
operation using the test software installed by Actineon. No additional user
interaction is required for this simulation. While users will eventually
interact with the Edge Hub using an app developed by Splunk, Actineon has
installed the test samples with special test software that will simulate
normal operation immediately upon power up. This mode will be activated by
both the USB-C power adapter or PoE. Additional user interaction should not be
necessary to simulate normal operation.
