Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Hover Spy Chase.
Patrol around with Super Spy Chase as he moves around, talking and avoiding
obstacles.

WARNING
All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable
tags, cable ties, cords and packaging screws are not part of this toy and
should be discarded for your child’s safety.
NOTE
Please save this Instruction Manual as it contains important information.
Unlock the Packaging Locks
- Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees counterclockwise.
- Pull out the packaging locks.
IMPORTANT NOTES
-
For optimal performance, please use the unit on a flat, smooth floor. It is advisable to play with the unit in a spacious indoor area.
NOTE: Don’t put on high tables or high surfaces. -
For your child’s safety, ensure that the wheels are kept away from clothing, body or hair.

Avoid playing under direct sunlight as this may affect the sensors.
GETTING STARTED
WARNING:
Adult assembly required for battery installation.
Keep batteries out of reach of children.
Battery Removal and Installation
- Make sure the unit is turned Off.
- Find the two battery covers located on the bottom of the unit, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws and then open the battery covers.
- Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.
- Install 4 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery boxes. (For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended.)
- Replace the battery covers and tighten the screws to secure.
ACTIVATE NORMAL PLAY MODE
This product is in Try-Me mode in the packaging.
To activate normal play mode: Slide the Off/Low/High Volume Switch to Off.
Then slide it to Low or High .
NOTE: Removing the batteries for approximately 5 seconds will also activate normal play mode. See Battery Removal and Installation instructions.
IMPORTANT: BATTERY INFORMATION
- Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
- Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
- Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
- Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
- Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
- Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
- Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from the toy before charging.
- Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
- Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
PRODUCT FEATURES

Power Switch & Volume Control
To turn the unit On, slide the switch to the Low or High Volume position. To turn the unit Off, slide the switch to the Off ● position. -
Mode Selector
Move the Mode Selector to select a mode of play. There are 3 modes to choose from. -
Pup Pack Button
Press the Pup Pack Button to hear Chase activate his tools or answer questions. -
Pup Tag Button
Press the Pup Tag Button to hear Chase calling the teammates answer questions. -
Sensors
The Sensors on the front and back of the vehicle help Chase avoid obstacles and allow you to guide his movement. If you are having problems triggering the sensors, make sure the obstacles are placed directly in front of the sensors. Avoid direct sunlight as this may affect the Sensors. -
Automatic Shut-Off
To preserve battery life, VTech® Hover Spy Chase will automatically turn Off after several minutes without input.
VTech® Hover Spy Chase can be woken up again by pressing the Pup Tag Button or the Pup Pack Button.
NOTE: If the unit powers down or if the light fades out during play, please install a new set of batteries.
ACTIVITIES

Free Play
Explore with Chase as he talks, zooms around and avoids obstacles. Trigger the Sensors to guide his movements. Press Pup Pack Button or Pup Tag Button to play fun phrases. -
Hide And Seek
Find where Chase is hiding. Wait while Chase counts or plays music. After Chase finishes counting or when the music, press the Pup Pack Button or Pup Tag Button stops, find him and then… -
Spy Time
Play I spy and press the Pup Tag Button or Pup Pack Button to answer questions.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
- Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
- Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
- Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
- Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:
- Turn the unit Off.
- Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
- Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
- Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
- If the unit still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
