IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CORRECT AND SAFE USE OF THE APPLIANCE

Use of a microwave oven is subject to compliance with a number of simple requirements, some of which are now commonplace. Failure to comply may result in situations of risk, danger and possible injury to the operator and persons nearby.

  • The appliance is designed for household and non-intensive use. Any professional use compromises the safety requirement and is a condition for the inapplicability of the warranty. It is not designed for the following applications: hospitality sector, accommodation facilities, hotels, bed & breakfasts, residences, communal venues, farms, shops, industrial kitchens, food production facilities and other industrial and commercial applications.

  • The appliance is intended for indoor use and protected from inclement weather: use in an outdoor environment compromises the safety requirement and constitutes a potential hazard for the safety of the operator and persons nearby.
The appliance must not be used if it shows deformations, bulges, cracks in the casing, missing parts or other structural anomalies. If these conditions occur, disconnect the power supply, do not open the door and contact qualified technical personnel.

  • The appliance must not be used if it emits unusual noises, foul odours, smoke, vapours or any other type of exhalation not related to its use as an insect killer. If these conditions occur, disconnect the power supply and contact qualified technical personnel.

  • Slight smoke and a slight burning smell may occur when using the appliance for the first time: this situation is normal and does not constitute a fault or hazard unless it lasts beyond the first few minutes of use.

  • The appliance must not be stored or used in excessively humid or dusty environments, in the presence of atmospheres saturated with gas, fumes, in excessive or low temperatures or under direct solar radiation.

  • The appliance must not be used in explosive atmospheres, near explosive, combustible, detonating or flammable material (e.g. petrol pumps, gas cylinders, etc.). Such use constitutes a serious risk to the safety of the operator and persons nearby and may cause fires or deflagrations.

  • Make sure that each part of the appliance, especially the cord, is placed at a safe distance from heat sources (e.g. electric or gas cookers), both during use and when not in use.

  • During use, the appliance must be constantly supervised: do not use it in the absence of operators or persons who can constantly check its correct operation.

  • During use, the appliance must be placed at a minimum distance of 20 cm from surrounding objects on each side: this precaution prevents parts from overheating and improves safety performance. The appliance must not be installed flush-mounted or in vans, motorhomes, caravans or other vehicles. Do not apply cladding or decorative panels to any surface of the appliance.

  • Do not heat any foods or liquids inside sealed containers. The increased internal pressure may generate sudden explosions.

  • Use only the original accessories supplied. The use of non-original accessories could constitute a danger of damage to the appliance as well as a potential health hazard.

  • Use only containers and utensils certified for microwave use. The use of unsuitable accessories or containers constitutes a danger to the operator and risk of damage to the appliance. Metal containers and utensils are not normally suitable for microwave use.

  • For more information on suitable materials, see the table in the following chapters.

  • The presence of internal heating elements constitutes a potential danger for the user and persons nearby: they must never be touched as they may reach high temperatures, not necessarily when using the combined function.

  • Exercise caution when handling the material inserted in the appliance so as to prevent the glass turntable, which is rested and not fixed to the base of the appliance, from moving.

  • Do not use when empty: this leads to energy wastage, premature wear of the appliance and may result in damage.

  • Do not use paper containers as these could cause flames to develop.

  • Do not use to heat or dry non-food materials. Do not use the appliance to dry clothing, heat accumulators, cushions, sponges, rags or footwear; such behaviour could lead to fire, damage to the appliance and injury to the operator and persons nearby.

  • Exercise particular caution when heating liquid foods. Even if boiling, the maximum temperature may be delayed and only reached after removal from the appliance. Always check the temperature of the food before consuming it and, if necessary, stir it and wait: risk of burn injuries.

  • Do not submerge any part of the appliance or its accessories in cold water or other liquids without waiting and checking that it has completely cooled.

  • Never use for frying: the oil temperature cannot be checked and, therefore, hot oil spillage is possible.

  • Do not heat eggs with shells: egg shells are a natural, hermetic container that could explode during or after heating.

  • Reduce the heating temperature for modest amounts of food in order to prevent overheating of the food and possible mouth burns.

  • Use oven gloves or other similar protection to remove the containers after heating.

  • Opening the door, during or after use, could result in the sudden release of heated vapours: keep a safe distance.

  • Avoid touching structural parts, even external ones, during operation, as these may be live in the event of malfunction or failure of the appliance.

  • Do not obstruct the ventilation grilles: doing so creates potentially dangerous situations as well as significantly worsening the performance of the appliance.

  • Avoid touching any structural parts, even external ones, during operation, as some of these could present high temperatures, which is more likely in the case of prolonged use.

  • Periodically check the cleanliness of the ventilation grilles: refer to the following chapter on cleaning if dust or dirt accumulation is found.

  • Do not cover the appliance with any heat reflective material (e.g. aluminium). Doing so will lead to the appliance overheating, with the possibility of breakdowns and danger to the operator or people nearby.

  • Do not use the appliance if the door or door seals are damaged: have the appliance repaired by qualified technical personnel.

  • Do not use the appliance if one or more of the parts listed in the following chapter are missing or damaged: contact your dealer for repair.

  • Do not use water vapour for cleaning, whether generated directly by the appliance or using steam guns or other types of appliances, including pressure washers or water jets.

  • The appliance must be connected to a compliant electrical system. The electrical system must have a power rating equal to or greater than that of the appliance and must be earthed. The power socket must be easy to access, even with the appliance in operation.

  • Before connecting the power plug to the socket, make sure that the voltage of your household installation corresponds to the voltage indicated on the appliance. Only connect the cord if it is perfectly rolled out and free of knots.

  • Do not connect the appliance to extension cords, power strips, multi-socket strips, timers, controlled sockets or other devices that can start it up independently.

  • If the appliance is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, it is advisable to unplug the power cord from the socket: this will extend the life of the appliance and help reduce energy consumption.

  • Do not disconnect the power supply by pulling on the cord: grasp the plug firmly with one hand, place the other hand on the frame of the electrical outlet and disconnect with a quick, sharp movement.

  • Before disconnecting the appliance, make sure that it is switched off, unless you need to disconnect it in an emergency situation due to abnormal behaviour as described in this chapter.

  • The appliance must be kept out of the reach of children under 8 years of age; in any case make sure that it is not used for play.

  • If the appliance is used by children, even if they are over 8 years old, or by persons with reduced cognitive, sensory or motor skills, they must be instructed about the dangers of incorrect use of the appliance and it must be guaranteed that the information has been correctly and fully understood. Adequate supervision must however be ensured.

  • Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of liquid accumulations or sources, such as tanks, tubs, showers, sinks, other sanitary fixtures, faucets, pipes, sprinklers, bottles, storage vessels, expansion vessels, watercourses, flowerpots and similar. Do not place containers holding liquids on top of the appliance; make sure that the power cord or electrical plug is never submerged.

  • Strictly avoid operating with the cover removed, as the latter protects against exposure to the energy generated by the oven. All technical servicing must be carried out by specialised technical personnel that applies specific operating procedures aimed at minimising the risk to human health.

  • There is no reason to disassemble the appliance, not even after it has been decommissioned. It is composed of parts that could be swallowed by children or persons with reduced cognitive ability.

  • Do not carry out any repairs yourself; in the event of a fault, have the appliance inspected by a qualified technician.

  • None of the parts of the appliance must be modified under any circumstances: doing so normally constitutes a serious impairment of the safety requirement, a condition for immediate forfeiture of the warranty and does not lead to any increase in performance.

  • Do not subject the power cord to excessive bending or kinking: any internal damage to the cable which cannot be detected constitute a serious safety hazard.

  • Place the appliance at an adequate distance from moving parts such as curtains, door and window sashes, hatches or similar in order to avoid accidental contact.

  • Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface at a height that facilitates, as much as possible, user operation, and ensure that the appliance cannot move independently due to gravity or external forces.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Three different operating modes can be used to heat or cook foods, determined by the selected position of the program selector:

Selector switch Function Operation
Low, Med, M-High, High Microwave The food is heated or cooked by means of an

induced electromagnetic field, which

heats the organic molecules of the food.

Grill| Grill| The food is heated or cooked by means of an electric heating element positioned at the top, which transmits heat directly to

the surface.

M2G8, M3G7, M4G6| Combined| The food is heated or cooked by the combined and adjustable action of both

the previous operating modes.

Food preparation involves placing the food to be heated or cooked on the turntable, selecting the desired heating, cooking or grilling time, and then removing the food from the appliance once cooking is complete. The times, methods and specific power levels are normally indicated on the food packaging. Experience and skill allow an improved user experience, fully leveraging the features and performance characteristics. Below is a list of guidelines that must be followed for best results.

  • Only in the case of very compact food (e.g. bread), can it be placed directly on the turntable. For all other types of food, the use of a non-metallic container is strongly recommended.
  • If the desired time is less than 2 minutes, set the timer to 5 minutes and scroll it back until the desired time is reached. This will improve the accuracy of the setting.
  • Heating/cooking starts immediately when the timer is set; if cooking needs to be stopped before completion, simply open the door using the button; pressing and fully closing the door again will restart the process.
  • Opening the door also stops the timer. When the door is closed again, the process resumes from where it stopped, without including the stopped time as part of the set time.
  • At the end of cooking/heating, once the set time has elapsed, the appliance stops the process, the internal light switches off and a bell sound is emitted.
  • If the food is removed from the appliance before the timer elapses, remember to set it to “0” or the appliance will resume operation and run “empty” when the door is closed.
  • At the end of the process, when removing the food or container from inside, it is strongly recommended to use safety gloves; take care not to touch the internal elements.
  • Heating normally takes between 2 to 3 minutes, up to 5 minutes. Regularly check the progress of the process and avoid overheating previously cooked food.
  • In the case of foods with a substantial liquid component, it may be wise to cover the container with food wrap, pricking it with a fork or toothpick to create small holes.

THAWING (FUNCTION )

Amount of food (g)| Timer selection

(Duration)

| Program
---|---|---
200 g| 4 minutes|
400 g| 8 minutes|
600 g| 12 minutes|

Best thawing results are achieved by stirring halfway through the set time. To stir, wait until halfway through the process, open the door, stir the contents, extracting them from the appliance if necessary, then quickly reposition them; close the door, the process will resume from where it was stopped.

CONTAINERS AND OTHER COOKING ACCESSORIES
Knowing the constituent materials of anything inserted in the appliance is crucial in ensuring its correct and safe use. Incompatible materials lead to malfunctions, generate electric arcs, smoke, odours and possibly the development of flames. The circuits of the appliance could also be severely compromised. Ceramic, plastic or glass accessories are normally ideal for microwave cooking, while any metal containers or other parts should be strictly avoided, except for the supplied stand, which is specifically designed not to constitute a hazard. Below is a summary table of the most common materials:

Material| Microwav

e

| Grill| Combined| Notes
---|---|---|---|---
Heat-resistant ceramics| Yes| Yes| Yes| Avoid containers with metallic decorations such as gold-plated, silver-

plated or painted edges.

Heat-resistant plastic| Yes| No| No| Use only in microwave mode and for relatively

short periods.

---|---|---|---|---
Heat-resistant glass| Yes| Yes| Yes| Check the effective heat resistance as indicated on

the product.

Food wrap| Yes| No| No| The intense heat of the heating element could melt the cling wrap, no problem of interference

with the microwaves.

Metal grills| No| Yes| Yes| Metal grills can be used in all operating modes that do not involve the use of

microwaves.

Metal containers| No| No| No| Not suitable for microwave cooking. The metal intercepts the microwaves, which do not

reach the food.

Lacquered/enamelled containers| No| No| No| Not very heat-resistant. Not suitable for high-

temperature cooking.

Bamboo, wood, paper| No| No| No| Not very heat-resistant.

Not suitable for high- temperature cooking.

ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE:

  • Food positioning: Place larger-sized pieces of food along the perimeter of the container and smaller-sized pieces of food in the centre. If possible, avoid overlapping the pieces.
  • Cooking time: Initially, select a reasonably short time, which can always be extended with additional starts, while it is impossible to recover burnt food that has been overcooked.
  • Even cooking: Chicken, meat and steaks should be turned over at least once during preparation. If possible, stir the contents at least once or twice during preparation.
  • At the end of preparation : Leaving the food inside the appliance to settle for a few moments after preparation allows its return to the proper temperature and completion of the cooking process before consumption.
  • When is the food ready? Cooking or heating normally causes variations in the colour or compactness of the food, as well as other manifestations that are usually relatively obvious:
    • A light vapor is emitted from the entire food product, not just the top.
    • Pieces of food, which are drier, are easier to stir and remove.
    • Fresh meat, beef or pork shows no sign of bleeding.
    • Fish assumes a matt appearance and can be easily broken apart with a fork.
  • Special dishes: When special microwave containers are used (plates, perforated containers, etc.), a ceramic plate should be placed between the accessory and the turntable to protect the latter and mobile parts against possible overheating.
  • Food wrap: Avoid any contact between the clear food wrap and the food, especially food with a high fat content, since the heat transmitted may cause the food wrap to melt.
  • Plastic microwave-safe containers: Even microwave-safe containers, if used incorrectly, can be deformed and melt in the presence of particularly greasy or fatty food. Exercise caution during use.

CLEANING, CARE AND MAINTENANCE

  • The appliance does not require maintenance, understood as the need to replace consumables or parts subject to wear. Regular and thorough cleaning is normally enough to ensure its optimal performance.
  • Before cleaning, check that the power plug has been removed from the socket. Do not, under any circumstances, clean the appliance when powered; before reconnecting the appliance to the mains, check that all the treated surfaces have fully dried.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the internal surfaces more or less immediately after preparation, having checked that the parts have cooled to levels no longer considered dangerous. Avoid splashes of grease or other traces of dirt from completely drying out. This makes them more difficult to remove and leads to the development of unpleasant odours. Before each use, the internal surfaces of the appliance must be completely free of build-up to prevent subsequent radiation from making it even more difficult to remove.
  • In any case, do not rub the parts with aggressive cleansers or abrasive sponges, metal scourers and the like. Damage to the surface layer may cause inedible substances to fall onto the food during cooking. Specific oven-cleaning products are not suitable for microwave appliances and, therefore, must not be sprayed, especially on the grill heating elements. If a damp cloth alone is insufficient, use a modest amount of very diluted dishwashing detergent, making sure to rinse thoroughly, avoiding internal overflowing, the accumulation of water or immersions, even partial, and wait for the appliance to fully dry before reconnecting it to the mains. Very light friction using a soft-bristle brush may be useful in the case of tough dirt. Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher.
  • For the ventilation slots, use a soft-bristle brush; do not use a vacuum cleaner to aspirate the slots. Use only a damp cloth on the external surfaces.
