UNIFIX 300.1 C Tilting Mounting Bracket for Campervan

Dear customer, thank you for purchasing one of our UNITECK products. Please read carefully all the instructions before using the product.

DESCRIPTION

UNIFIX 300.1 C mounting bracket was designed to fix UNISUN 300.12M photvoltaic panels on a flat surface (campervan roof, mobile home, peniche…) Its multi position system with gas springs allows to optimize your panel’s performance by choosing the optimum inclination angle, from 0° to 65°, for a production up to 40% better than a flat setting. The inclination can be adjusted using two springs positions with stop angles at 45° or 65°. For a precise adjustment, UNIFIX 300.1 C is delivered with a rope fixing system that allows to keep an inclination angle between 0° and 65°. UNIFIX 300.1 C is easy to install, and can be fixed :

  • with adhesive sealant directly on your vehicle roof (adhesive not included)
  • with bolts (not included)
  • on your vehicle roof rack (U-bolts not included)

Its aluminum structure is equipped with a key-locking system that allows to secure your installation. UNIFIX 300.1 C is delivered with stabilizer pads for an optimum fixing even on a not-perfectly-flat roof.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Take the appropriate measures to prevent accidents during your mounting steps.
  • If the brackets and the mounting tools are exposed to sunlight for a long period, there is a risk of getting burnt. Make sure to protect yourself accordingly.
  • When finished, and after 72 hours, check and make sure that all of your brackets and panels are fixed properly
  • If you fix by gluing, follow the glue manufacturer’s instructions regarding drying time.
  • When moving the vehicle, the panel must be in a flat position and the whole structure must be locked.

PANELS COMPATIBILITY

  • UNIFIX 300.1 C was specially designed to fix UNISUN 300.12 M photovoltaic panels (300W) with the following dimensions:1500 x 990 x 40mm.

DIMENSIONS

Mounting bracket dimensions in centimeters (without panel)

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Mount Unifix mounting bracket only on surfaces with sufficient load-bearing capacity.

Take into account supplementary load with a panel

  • The position of the solar panel influences your electrical production. Choose the most optimal inclination and orientation to suit your environment. Avoid shaded areas or objects that can be a source of shadow (eg tree)

UNIFIX 300.1 C – ASSEMBLY

Spare parts list

Note: Parts N°5 and N°6 have pre-assembled locks.

  • Place N°2 parts at the end of each N°1 part. Pre-tighten the nuts, final tightening will be done later.

FIG-3

  • Place and screw parts N°3, 4, 5, 6 at the end of each N°1 part. Then tighten the nuts already tightened on the former step.

FIG-4

  • Screw parts N°7 and N°8

  • Pre-tighten parts N°9 on parts N°3 and N°4 (the ones that do not have locks). Final tightening will be done later.

  • Place parts N°12, 13, 14, 10 as on step N°1 below.

  • Insert parts N°15, 17, 18 as on step N°2. Tighten.

Note: Adjust tightening so that part N°10 is not blocked, as it will move with the panel during inclination.

  • Pre-tighten parts N°11 on part N°10. Close the mounting bracket and check that openings of parts N°11 are properly centered to the screws. Once the openings well centered, you can tighten the screws.

  • Operate final tightening of parts N°9 that were previously pre-tightened.

  • Place gas springs and screw them. BE CAREFUL, two positions available

  • These values correspond to stop angles (max. inclination) of each position.

  • Screw the rope system, that allows to adjust panel’s inclination from 0° to 65°, and to keep a choosen position.

  • Screw the panel to the mount (fix it on parts N°10). Be sure to properly place parts N°16 and N°28.

Lock system positions

Before starting the vehicle, check that the locks are in “closed” position, and locked by key.

UNIFIX 300.1C – FIXING

For a use on a roof that is not perfectly flat (e.g. Volkswagen T5/T6), use stabilizer pads : pre-place stabilizers and tighten them after glue is dry.

  • Fixing by glue (not included): apply glue on the surfaces previously prepared (dry and without grease) that will be in contact with the vehicle roof (see grey areas on the below drawing).

The recommended glue: SIKA 552. A 300mL tube is generally sufficient.
Recommendations: Apply glue in lines. Avoid closed shapes that prevent air from flowing and slow down polymerization

  • If the gluing surface is not sufficient compared to the glue and to gluing areas, it is possible to reforce the fixing by adding self-drilling screws and bolting.

Fixing by bolting: drill parts N°1 and N°3, 4, 5, 6 using the pre-drilled holes and a 6,5mm diameter drilling head. Do the same on your roof. Screw the mounting bracket on our vehicle’s roof. Ensure waterproofness with caution.

  • Fixing on roof rack (U-bolts and screws not included): screw U-bolts in the grooves on parts N°3, 4, 5 and 6.

Oblong drilling allows to adjust the mount on the roof rack depending on the distance between the bars, and their diameter (4 M6 U-bolts with screws must be added).
