Confirm Software Version in Teal QGC

  1. Open Teal QGC.
  2. Tap the Main Menu icon in the left corner of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings at the bottom of the menu.
  4. Under General, scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
  5. Verify the Teal QGC version.
  6. If the TAC did not update, proceed to step

UPDATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE & FIRMWARE INSTRUCTIONS Summary
Follow these instructions to update the software and firmware on the Golden Eagle, Teal 2, and the TAC. While the TAC system software and firmware updates are automatic when connected to a wi-fi network, this may not be ideal if this delays a mission or affects anticipated battery pack charge usage.
Update both the drone and the TAC as soon as possible for optimal system performance and to prevent the automatic update from interfering with any mission needs.

System Requirements

  • Access to a wireless network with access to the internet
  • Ensure that the system is paired and communicating prior to proceeding.
  • Use a fully charged battery pack in both the drone and the TAC.
  • Do not power off the drone or the TAC at any time during the update process Estimated time: 15-35 minutes depending on individual speed.

After completing the update, make sure Teal Focus Mode is enabled before flying missions for optimal system performance.

  1. STEP 1: Switch active network to Wi-Fi Follow these steps to update the TAC.

  2. Go to the Teal settings app

  3. Select Configure Devices

  4. Switch the Active Network from Drone to Wi-Fi.

  5. Connect to Wi-Fi.

  6. Reboot the tablet.

  7. The TAC should automatically update upon reboot. Proceed to step 2 to confirm the update.

  8. STEP 2: Confirm software version in Teal QGC
    Follow these steps to confirm the TAC is updated.

  9. Open Teal QGC.

  10. Tap the Main Menu icon in the left corner of the screen.

  11. Tap Settings at the bottom of the menu.

  12. Under General, scroll down to the bottom of the screen.

  13. Verify the Teal QGC version

  14. If the TAC did not update, proceed to step 3.

  15. If the TAC is updated, proceed to step 5 to update the vehicle.

  16. Step 3: Exit Teal Focus Mode
    Exit Teal Focus Mode to manually update the TAC if the automatic update fails.

  17. Press and hold the tablet power button (not the TAC battery pack) for 1-2 seconds. Two system icons appear Power Off, Restart, and Teal Focus.

  18. Select Exit Teal Focus.

  19.  Enter the password team teal (all lowercase, no spaces, no special characters) in the dialog box at the bottom of the screen. The tablet desktop screen automatically loads upon reboot.

  20.  Proceed to step 4 to complete the update on the TAC.

  21. STEP 4: Update the TAC Software and Firmware

  22. From the main tablet desktop screen, tap the narrow sidebar on the right and swipe left to open the tablet’s main menu.

  23. Touch the gear icon to open the Settings menu.

  24.  Scroll to the bottom and select About Tablet.

  25.  Select Software Information.

  26. Select Knox Configure.

  27. Select Apply Latest Profile.

  28. Select Apply.

  29. The screen will rotate 90 degrees and a progress bar and the Teal logo will appear.

  30. Proceed to step 5.
    Note: If for any reason the update was unsuccessful, a “Couldn’t update profile” error message appears. Repeat step 4 until the update is successful.

  31. STEP 5: Removal of Teal Updater App
    The capabilities of the Teal Updater App are now embedded into the Teal Settings App. As a result, the Teal Updater app has been removed in version 1.7.0. Please refer to the new Teal Settings App for all update-related operations, including system updates. You will need to connect to Wi-Fi using the Teal Settings app and then switch to the Drone network before starting the Teal 2 update.

Update the GS and sUAS firmware through Teal Settings.

To update firmware

  1. Make sure the sUA and GS are connected.
  2. Open Teal Settings.
  3. Tap Update Firmware.TEAL-Updating-Firmware-Software- \(5\)
  4. Tap Update via WiFi. TEAL-Updating-Firmware-Software- \(6\)
  5. Wait until the update completes and the software shows as up to date. The update may take up to 15 minutes.TEAL-Updating-Firmware-Software- \(7\) The following screen shows the software update information.
  6. If the software is not up to date, tap Download and Reinstall. TEAL-Updating-Firmware-Software- \(8\)

Note: If the vehicle does not automatically reboot, please manually power cycle the drone and confirm the new software version. If any problems persist, please feel free to contact Teal Technical Support.
