Front Surround and Doors for Inserts
Leave this manual with party responsible for use and operation.
CAUTION! Risk of Cuts or Abrasions. Wear protective gloves and safety
glasses during installation.
INTRODUCTION
Surround kits are used to fill the space between the insert and the solid fuel
fi rebox opening.
Under no circumstances can combustible material such as paneling or sheetrock
overlap or be placed under a surround.
Do not install damaged components.
SURROUND INSTALLATION
-
Remove the metal shipping brace that spans across the bottom of the surround. The method of brace removal varies depending on model of surround. Either remove the four nuts, two on each side, as shown in Figure 1 or bend the one tab as shown in Figure 2.
Carefully remove brace and discard. If the tab was bent to release the brace, it may be discarded or bent back to original position. -
Remove the glass on the insert. Remove the four (4) screws located at the corners of the insert. See Figure 3 . If there are no screws located in the corners, use the 4 screws found in the manual bag.
-
Locate the coiled ON/OFF switch wires on the insert.
-
Run the low voltage lead wires up the back of the surround and secure them with the three wire ties found there. Connect the low voltage wires to the ON/OFF switch. See Figure 4.
-
Place the surround on the face of the insert and reinstall the four screws. See Figure 5.
-
Some door fronts have a separate lower door. Remove the two bottom shoulder bolts on the surround. Install the lower door on the surround by inserting the shoulder bolts through the ovals on the sides of the lower door and tightening the bolts. See Figure 6.
-
Close the lower door rotating the door upward while lifting and hook it on the upper set of shoulder bolts.
-
The upper door will hang on the uppermost set of shoulder bolts. Push the bottom of the upper door into the insert to “snap” into place.
PREMIUM STYLE DOOR INSTALLATION
Some door styles come as an assembly with the bottom door already attached.
- Remove the bottom four shoulder bolts from the surround and discard (bottom two bolts on each side).
- The entire door assembly will hang on the uppermost set of shoulder bolts. Push the bottom of the door assembly into the insert to “snap” into place.
CHATEAU GLASS BRACKET
The Chateau style doors come with a bracket that should be attached to the glass frame.
- Remove glass from the insert.
- Slide bracket over the top of the glass frame.
- Bend two tabs on bracket down around glass frame (see Figure 7).
- Reattach glass.
