PREP CLAY
Soften your clay by kneading with your hands. We could do this for hours, but
it only takes a couple of minutes. Make ‘ EM
Roll a portion of light green clay into two ball shapes to create the
chameleon body and head. To make the tail of the chameleon, turn one ball into
a raindrop shape. Curl the skinny side of the raindrop to form a tail. Attach
the body to the head. Roll four pieces of the same color of clay into balls.
Flatten them into small pancakes and gently attach these to the sides of the
chameleon body to form feet. Roll three pieces of turquoise clay into balls.
Attach two of these to the sides of the chameleon head for eyes and one to the
top of the head. ADD DETAILS
Use a small portion of white and black clay for the chameleon’s eyeballs.
Attach these features using light pressure. Use the other colors provided to
create plants or any other details for your chameleon and its habitat. Look at
ours for inspiration, or choose your own adventure. BAKE ‘EM
Once you’re happy with your pieces, it’s time to bake ’em. Baking requires
adult supervision. Preheat your oven to 275°F and bake for 15 minutes on a
baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Remove from the oven
and allow to cool before moving. Pour your pouch of decorative sand into the
acrylic box, and add your chameleon, rock, and any other creations.
