PREP CLAY
Soften your clay by kneading with your hands. We could do this for hours, but it only takes a couple of minutes. -
МАКЕ ЕМ
Roll a portion of the turquoise clay into a ball. To make the tail of the whale, turn the ball into a raindrop shape. Split the end of the raindrop in half and fold away from each other until it looks like a whale’s tail. Pinch off two small pieces of turquoise clay and roll them into ball shapes. Flatten into small pancakes and gently attach these to the sides of the whale for flippers. -
ADD DETAILS
Use a small portion of black clay for the whale’s eyes and pink clay for cheeks. Attach to them your whale using light pressure. Add any other details to the whales you would like using clay and your double-headed needle tool. Use other clay colors provided to create a bird, clouds, or any other details. Look at ours for inspiration, or choose your own adventure. -
BAKE EM
Once you’re happy with your pieces, it’s time to bake ’em. Baking requires adult supervision. Preheat your oven to 275°F and bake for 15 minutes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Remove from the oven and allow your whale to chill out before gluing to your wooden birch box. Place the birch box on your favorite table or shelf.
