Hardware Setting

  • Installation The EVSE must only be installed by licensed electricians in accordance with all applicable local and national electrical codes and standards, in a location with nonrestricted access.
  • Do not open the EVSE, except by qualified service person.
  • The EVSE must be connected to a grounded, metal, permanent wiring system or an equipment grounding conductor must be run with the circuit conductors and connected to the equipment grounding terminal or lead on the EVSE
  • Use a measuring instrument to check that there is no voltage.

Step 1: location definitionmsi-EV-Series-Charger-
fig-1

Recommended installation space Installers shall follow applicable accessibility requirements for the mounting position. The EVSE shall be mounted at a height between 600 mm (23.6 inches) and 1200 mm (47.2 inches) above ground. The EV AI requires the installation of the Wall Mount bracket at a distance of 760 mm (29.9 inches) from the ground to ensure proper detection of the license plate by the camera.

Step 2: Installation Stepsmsi-EV-Series-Charger-
fig-2

  1. Choose a suitable location and ensure it is a masonry wall. Determine the installation position of the EVSE and mark the top two holes and the bottom two holes on the wall for drilling in alignment with the wall mount bracket.

  2. Use a suitable drill bit to drill holes with a diameter of 12.7 mm (0.5 inches or 1/2”) and a depth of 40 mm (1.57 inches or 1 9/16”).

  3. Insert four expansion bolts into the drilled holes. Ensure the bolts are fully inserted. (Note: Expansion bolts are not included and must be purchased separately.)

  4. Loosen the nuts and remove the washers from the expansion bolts.

  5. Align the wall mount bracket with the expansion bolts. Place the bracket onto the wall, ensuring that the bolts align with the corresponding holes on the bracket. Install washers and nuts on each of the four expansion bolts. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 10.9Nm to securely attach the bracket to the wall.

  6. Use a screwdriver to remove the 2 screws on the camera cover of the EVSE, and remove the cover. (Note: The diagrams shown below are based on the model with a camera feature.)

  7. Remove the 4 screws that secure the plastic cover. Then, remove the plastic cover.

  8. Install 4*M6 screws (included in the screw bag) on the back of the EVSE

  9. Hang the EVSE onto the wall mount bracket.

  10. Use 2*M6 waterproof screws (included in the screw bag) to secure the EVSE onto the wall mount bracket.

  11. Insert the AC input power cable with the appropriate amperage rating through the bottom entry of the EVSE. Connect it to the L1, L2/N, and Ground terminals using UL-approved and insulated ring terminals. For the connections to L1 and L2/N, use M6 ring terminals with an inner diameter of 6.4 mm. Tighten them to a torque of 18-20 kgf.cm. For the Ground terminal, use M4 ring terminal with an inner diameter of 4.3 mm. Tighten it to a torque of 8.0 kgf.cm +/-10%.
    Amps| AC input power cable
    ---|---
    60| 4AWG (22mm²), 90°C XLPE
    32| 6AWG (14mm²), 90°C XLPE

Important

  * When securing the AC input power cable, the cable must be straightened and cannot be skewed or overlapping.
  * The LAN cable within the charger should be wrapped in a heat shrink tube rated for 300 volts to ensure safety.
  * Please make sure the house grounding connection quality is good enough.
  1. There are optional components located above the screw terminal blocks. Please follow the instructions as below:
    • A. LAN Port (Optional): EV Life Plus, EV Premium offer an optional LAN port for wired connection if required.
    • B. SIM Card Slot (Optional): EV Life Plus, EV Premium offer an optional SIM card slot for LTE/4G connection. Insert a SIM card into the SIM card slot, if required.
    • C. Testing Switch: Please always keep the switch in the down position. Note the switch is for internal testing purposes only and should not be switched to the up position, as it may cause in abnormal startup or crashes.
    • D. USB-C Port: This port is for internal testing purposes by the manufacturer.msi-EV-Series-Charger-fig-12
  2. Assemble the bottom cover onto the EVSE using the new M3*8 screws (included in the screw bag). Tighten the screws with a torque of 5 kgf·cm ±10%. Lock the screws in the following order: first, lock the 2 screws on the bottom; then lock the screws on the top left, top right, bottom right, and finally bottom left.
