    • A: When using external charging, all three LEDs on the battery will be lit up to indicate that it is fully charged. For internal charging, check the LED light on the operating panel for battery charge status.

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing this Dual Slope Rotary Laser! We want to getyou up and running as quickly as possible – but this quick start guide is not a replacement for reading and understanding your operator’s manual. For complete safety and operating instructions, refer to the operator’s manual.

OVERVIEW

CHARGING LI-ION BATTERY

The rotary laser unit is shipped with two Lithium-ion batteries installed but not charged. Li-ion batteries can be charged either installed or external to the unit.

CHARGE LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES INSTALLED

  1. Slide open battery recharge port on front of the unit.
  2. Connect the Type C, USB charger to the unit’s recharge port.
  3. Connect opposite end of charging cable to a power source and note that a green light next to the charging port lights up. Charge time is typically five hours.
  4. Battery charge is indicated by LED light on operating panel.

CHARGE LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES EXTERNALLY

  1. Push in and turn the battery lock knob clockwise to the “Unlock” position.
  2. Remove battery compartment from the unit.
  3. Remove each battery case from the battery compartment.
  4. Check the fuel gauge status of the Li-ion battery. See figure 1. Press the micro switch on the battery and note which LEDs light up. See table below.
    Fuel Gauge| LED1| LED2| LED3
    ---|---|---|---
    Volt of battery <3.5V| ON| OFF| OFF
    3.5V £ Volt of battery <3.8V| ON| ON| OFF
    3.8V £ Volt of battery| ON| ON| ON
  5. Connect the Type C, USB charger to battery charging port located on the front of the battery.
  6. Connect the opposite end of charging cable to a power source and note that battery charging LEDs light up. When all three LEDs are lit, the battery is fully charged. Charge time is typically five hours. See table below.
  7. Reinsert battery cases into the battery compartment. Be sure the end with the openings is aligned with the opening on the rear of the battery compartment.
  8. Reinsert the battery compartment into the unit.
  9. Push in and turn the battery lock knob counterclockwise to the “Lock” position to lock the battery cover.

MOUNTING POSITIONS

  • Horizontal Laser Beam Position: Place the rotary laser in an upright position, either on a stable, flat surface, or mount it to a tripod with a 5/8″‑11 threaded screw.
  • Vertical Laser Beam Position: Place the rotary laser on the side opposite the control panel, either on a stable, flat surface, or mount it to a tripod with a 5/8″-11 threaded screw.

OPERATION

AUTOMATIC MODE

The rotary laser enters automatic leveling mode by default. NOTE: The unit must be within ±5° of level for the self-leveling feature to function properly. If the unit is beyond its 5° self‑leveling range, the laser will not self‑level and the level indicator status light will flash red. NOTE: Ensure the Shock Warning feature is engaged when the unit is in Automatic Mode.

ROTATION SPEED MODE

  • This feature changes the rotating speed of the laser. Press the Rotation Speed Mode button to change the rotating speed from the default 600 rpm to 1200 rpm, 0 rpm, 100 rpm, or 300 rpm.
  • Each time this button is pressed, the rotating speed cycles through the rpm settings.

POINT/LINE SEGMENT MODE (SCAN MODE)

  • This feature changes the 360° rotating laser to either a line segment laser or a single laser point.
  • The up and down arrows on the control panel adjust the position of the laser line.

SHOCK-WARNING FUNCTION (AUTOMATIC MODE ONLY)

  • This feature alerts if the unit has changed position while in Automatic mode. This may be the result of something striking the unit, strong winds shifting the unit, or shaking on the ground.
  • It prevents the rotary laser from auto leveling after it changes height, thus preventing vertical height errors.

MANUAL MODE FUNCTION

  • This feature allows the rotary laser unit to be placed in an angled position. It can be used with the unit in either Rotation mode or Point/Line Segment mode.
  • When the unit is in Manual mode, accuracy of the device is based on the skill and accuracy of the end user. When used in this mode, specified accuracy is not applicable.

SLOPE MODE FUNCTION

  • This feature allows the rotary laser to adjust the pitch of the laser line.
  • Follow the markings on the housing of your unit, as you are looking at the front of it.

USING THE REMOTE AND DETECTOR

USING THE REMOTE

  • Control the rotary laser remotely using the remote control.
  • Press any button on the remote to turn it on. The buttons on the remote work the same as the buttons on the rotary laser. See figure 2.

USING THE DETECTOR

  1. Press the button to power on/off the detector. See figure 3.
  2. A second short press of the button will toggle the display’s backlighting ON or OFF, respectively.
  3. While detecting, the signal indicators show as follows:
    • If the laser beam is below center, the display shows a downward arrow and beeps rapidly.
    • If the laser beam is at center, the display shows a horizontal line and emits a solid sound.
    • If the laser beam is above center, the display shows an upward arrow and beeps slowly.
    • If no laser beam is detected, the detector will remain silent.
  4. Keep the detector still and the detecting window facing the rotating laser.
  5. When the laser beam is centered, mark at the side reference marker.
  6. When the detector does not receive a laser signal for ten minutes, and there are no buttons pushed during these ten minutes, the detector powers off automatically.
