IN THE BOX
Included in your NRS packraft box you will find the following: · Raft · Seat · Inflation bag · Mouth inflation tube · Thigh straps (Neutron and Neutron XL ONLY) · Backband (Neutron, Neutron XL, Orion and Cosmos XL) · Repair kit

VALVES
NRS Packrafts use Bravo valves for inflation and deflation. To open the valve, first remove the valve cap. Use your finger to press down on the spring-loaded valve stem. The valve stem is now locked down in the open position, allowing air to move freely in and out through the valve. To close the valve, push down on the valve stem. The stem will pop up, sealing the valve shut. In the closed position, you can still pump air into the chamber, but when you remove the pump, the valve will not allow air to escape. When you’re done, screw the plastic valve cap back on to keep water and dirt out of the inner valve.
INFLATION
Unscrew the plastic cap on the Bravo inflation/deflation valve and push down on the valve stem to release into the extended position. When the stem is fully extended, the valve is sealed and you’re ready to inflate the raft. For those looking for the smallest and lightest footprint when traveling with the packraft, the use of the inflation bag and mouth inflation tube will be the best method. Those who prefer faster inflation and do not have weight or packing restrictions can use a low-pressure pump, like a K-Pump or NRS Super Pump 1 or 2. Both the inflation bag and pump have Bravo adapters that will twist into the valve to hold in place and create an airtight seal while inflating.
· The packraft should not exceed 1.5 PSI. · The seat should not exceed 1.5 PSI. To deflate the packraft, press down on the valve stem. This locks the valve open for deflation.
Inflation Warnings Do not use a high-pressure air compressor. Be mindful when transporting or leaving a fully inflated packraft directly in the sunlight. Heat and/or an increase in elevation can lead to overinflation and damage, including bursting. This is VERY important with the seat. The seat is designed to be ultra-light and therefore is more susceptible to overinflation in the sun or heat. It can burst more easily.
SEATS
Seat design varies between each packraft model, but the installation process does not. The seats must be manually secured to the raft. In the event of a puncture, the seat becomes an additional air chamber, enhancing user safety, therefore, proper installation is important.
The seat is designed to lock underneath the tube of the raft. Once the raft is inflated, lay out the deflated seat on the inside floor of the inflated raft. Work the edges of the seat under the tubes of the raft. Thread the nylon webbing from the seat through the ladder lock on the back left interior tube of the raft. Inflate the seat until firm to the touch but do not exceed 1.5 PSI.

NEUTRON AND NEUTRON XL In addition to the seat, the Neutron and Neutron XL feature a backband and optional thigh straps.
Install the Backband Thread the two nylon straps behind the backband through the 1-inch ladder lock attached to the raft behind the cockpit. Then, thread the two nylon straps on the outer edge of the backband through the 1.5-inch ladder locks on the top-middle of each side tube.
Install the Thigh Straps Utilizing the clips on either end of the thigh strap, attach one to the metal D-ring in the bow of the raft and one to the metal D-ring adjacent to the back band. Repeat on the other side. Adjust for optimal fit with the tri-glide.
RIFFLE In addition to the seat, the Riffle features an adjustable seat back.
Install the Seat Back Inflate the seat back until firm to the touch but do not exceed 1.5 PSI.
Attach the bottom of the seat back by clipping both sides to the nylon loops on the interior of the side tubes.
Note: The seat back can be attached in multiple positions to allow more or less leg room and storage behind the user. Once secured, thread the two nylon webbing straps through the ladder lock located on the top of the side tubes.
For custom adjustability, tighten or loosen the webbing straps through the ladder lock to give a customized fit. We suggest experimenting and fine tuning, prior to getting on the water.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
It’s important to keep your Bravo valve clean and free of debris. When the valve is closed, be sure to wash with clean fresh water before and after each use.
Proper care and maintenance will improve the packrafts’s appearance and longevity. Clean and inspect after each use. We recommend using Inflatable Boat Cleaner (available from your local dealer or NRS.com); it is a biodegradable product that safely removes dirt, oil and stains.
For NRS packrafts with a TIZIP® access point to storage (Pulsar, Pulsar XL, Neutron, Neutron XL, Riffle, Orion), the zipper must be cleaned and maintained to ensure 100% air retention and waterproof performance. Clean the TIZIP often with clean fresh water. Use silicone grease (purchased from your local retailer or NRS.com) to keep the zipper lubricated and working at peak performance. A dry, unlubricated zipper will not open and close smoothly and could cause damage to the zipper or the raft itself. Zipper damage due to ill maintenance is not covered under the packraft’s warranty.
REPAIR
The repair kit includes a valve wrench, self-adhesive patches, alcohol prep pads, and a plastic squeegee.
Tightening a Valve If you are losing air, or you see air bubbles around your Bravo valve, you need to tighten the valve. Insert the valve wrench the same way you would insert a pump adapter. Slowly turn the wrench to the right (or clockwise) to tighten. It should be snug, with no more room to turn, but do not overtighten for fear of cracking the valve.

Repairing a small tear or hole
1. Select an appropriately sized patch that will extend at least 1″ beyond the edges of the tear or hole on all sides.
2. Thoroughly clean the area around the hole or puncture with the included alcohol pad.
3. Apply the self-adhesive patch.
4. Use the plastic squeegee to work out any air bubbles and apply pressure to ensure a solid bond.
5. If your packraft is equipped with a zipper you can apply an additional patch to the inside of the boat for added security.
Note: Self-adhesive patches are a reliable option for field repairs. For a more permanent repair, we recommend replacing the self-adhesive patch once at home with a glued-on selffabric patch. Clifton Urethane Adhesive LA 4123 and Stabond Adhesive are both good choices for this repair. Follow adhesive directions. Repair materials can be purchased at NRS.com.
TRANSPORT When transporting, take all precautions to keep water out of the chamber. If you are transporting your packraft inflated, bleed off air pressure so it gives slightly under hand pressure. Heat from the sun or an increase in elevation can lead to overinflation and damage.
The design and materials of a packraft focus on light weights. The seam construction and materials are not intended to handle immense pressure, like those put on any craft when strapped to a vehicle and driven at high speeds. It’s best to only travel with your packraft inflated for short distances at slow speeds. In these circumstances, be mindful not to overtighten ropes or straps. Never use ratchet straps.
STORAGE
Let the packraft dry thoroughly before deflating it. Ideally, store the raft unfolded in a cool, dry location with a small amount of air inside the packraft. We do NOT recommend storing your packraft and seat tightly rolled as you would travel with it. Storing in this manner increases the risk of seam damage.
