INSTRUCTION MANUAL

WandScan 900-Reach Scanner (v1.06)

AKC Reunite WandScan 900-Reach has powerful microchip detection capabilities that help keep the user at a safe distance from uncontrollable, dangerous, or unknown animals. Slim wand design also fits through most crates and cages allowing microchip detection without direct animal contact. Streamlined design leaves less area for animal to easily bite and take hold of, limiting potential scanner damage.

Scanning Instructions

1. Insert 9V battery prior to use.
2. This scanner has a red power button with “quick press” technology. The LCD screen will light up and one short beep will sound when activated. The red area of the wand will detect the microchip, NOT the tip of the scanner.

  • Quick press (less than .5 seconds) – Will recall and display last microchip ID number scanned if last scan was successful.
  • Short press (.5-2 seconds) – Will continuously read without continuously depressing button until microchip is detected for up to 120 seconds. One long beep will sound when a microchip is detected. Three short beeps will sound if no microchip detected.
  • Continuously press the red button for extended scanning time. Scanner will continuously read while button is pressed. One long beep will sound when a microchip is detected.

3. To scan an animal for a microchip, extend the pole with red end of “scanning” wand pointed toward the pet. The scanner antenna is located along the red-colored 3.5 inches of the wand’s end.

  • Slowly scan the area between the shoulder blades in a zigzag motion.
  • If no microchip is detected between the shoulder blades, scan a broader area, including the front legs down to the elbows and the neck and chest.

4. When a microchip is detected, the scanner will beep and the screen will display the pet’s microchip number.
5. To help reunite a found pet with its owner, go to www.petmicrochiplookup.org or call AKC Reunite at 800-252-7894.

For future reference: if the scanner is working slowly, replace the 9-volt battery.
For best results, remove metal collars before scanning. Computers, some automobile key FOBS, metal tables and even fluorescent lighting can interfere with effective scanning.

WARNING: Products with exposed solder may contain lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. Please wash hands after handling internal components and motherboards and avoid inhalation of fumes if heating the solder.

DO NOT HANG THIS SCANNER ON A HOOK!

Please lay this item flat when storing. If this scanner is hung by its cord, the antenna will be displaced and significantly impact the effective scanning of pets with microchips.
