Intended use
The device is an active terminating resistor for the fieldbus system Profibus PA. The device complies with protection class IP66/IP67.
Functional description
The device connects one field device with one fieldbus segment. The device supports earthing concepts with multi-point screen earthing or single-point screen earthing. The earthing concepts are explained in the Profibus guidelines.
Mounting
- Screw the device onto the mounting surface with two screws.
- Earth the enclosure via the external earthing stud. We recommend using a cable lug.
Installation for multipoint screen earthing
We recommend connecting the screening of the bus cable via the EMC cable gland.
Assemble the bus cable (see Fig. C1)
- Use a spanner to loosen the cap nut 2 from the cable gland.
- Push the cap nut 2 and the sealing insert 3 onto the bus cable 1.
- Remove the cable insulation to the required length.
- Cut the screened braid S to a remaining length of 5 mm.
- Slightly widen the screened braid S.
- Push the metal cone 4 under the screened braid S. Connect the bus cable (see Fig. B)
- Feed the assembled, incoming trunk line through the cable gland on the input side.
- Screw the cap nut firmly onto the cable gland.
- Connect the wires A and B to the PUSH IN PCB terminal block T IN.
- Screw the cap nut hand-tight onto the cable gland.
- Connect the wires A and B to the PUSH IN PCB terminal block T OUT.
- Device type FBCon DP M12 Term 5V
- Close the trunk line with the active terminating resistor if the trunk line ends in this device (DIP switch S1 to the “on” position)..
Device type FBCon DP CG Term
- Feed the assembled spur line (X1) through the lower cable gland.
- Connect the wires A and B to the PUSH IN PCB terminal block X1.
Observe the specifications for the stripping length L of the wires (see Fig. C).
Device type FBCon DP M12 Term
- Screw the M12 spur line (X1) onto the M12 connector.
Installation for a single-point screen earthing
For single-point screen earthing, the screens must be electrically isolated from the enclosure potential. For this purpose, there is a wire bridge on the printed circuit board. The wire bridge connects the enclosure electrically to the connectors S of the PUSH IN PCB terminal blocks (see Fig. B, D).
- Disconnect the wire bridge at both ends.
Assemble the bus cable (see Fig. C2)
- Use a spanner to loosen the cap nut 2 from the cable gland.
- Push the cap nut 2 and the sealing insert 3 onto the bus cable 1.
- Remove the cable insulation to the required length.
Connect the bus cable (see Fig. B)
- Connect the bus cables as described above.
- Connect the screening S to the corresponding PUSH IN PCB terminal block.
Connecting the supply voltage
- Feed the assembled supply voltage line through the cable gland on the output side (see Figure B).
- Connect the wires +5 V and 0 V or +24 V and 0 V to the correspondingly marked PUSH IN PCB terminal blocks (see Figure B1, B2, D1, D2).
