OPERATION OF SAWS FOR ANGLE AND MITER CUTS

Miter saws are designed to cut wood or wood-like products, they cannot be used to cut ferrous materials such as rods, poles, screws, etc. Abrasive dust will clog moving parts such as the lower guard. Sparks generated during cutting ignite the lower cover, insert plate and other plastic parts.

If possible, secure the workpiece with a screw clamp. If the workpiece is held by hand, always keep your hand at least 100mm from each side of the saw blade. Do not use the saw to cut parts that are too small to be clamped or held by hand. When your hand is too close to the blade, there is an increased risk of injury from contact with the blade.

The workpiece must be stationary and clamped or held against both the fence and the table. Do not insert the workpiece into the saw blade or cut it while holding it in the air. Loose or moving workpieces can be thrown at high velocity and cause injury.

Push the saw through the workpiece. Do not pull the saw through the workpiece. To cut, raise the saw head and pull it out over the workpiece without cutting, start the motor, press the saw head down, and push the saw through the workpiece. Cutting on the pull stroke is likely to cause the saw blade to climb on top of the workpiece and violently throw the blade assembly toward the operator.

Never cross your hand over the intended line of cutting either in front or behind the saw blade. Holding the workpiece “crossed hands”, i.e. holding it with the left hand to the right next to the saw blade or vice versa, is extremely dangerous..

Do not put your hands behind the stopper while the saw blade is rotating. Always maintain a safe distance of at least 100 mm (both sides of the blade) from the rotating blade, for example when removing wood waste. The proximity of the rotating saw blade to the hand can give the wrong impression of distance and result in serious injury.

Inspect the workpiece carefully before cutting. If it is bowed or warped, clamp it with the outside bowed face toward the fence. Always make sure there are no gaps between the workpiece, fence and table along the cutting line. Bent or warped workpieces may move or rotate, which may cause binding on the spinning saw blade while cutting. Also make sure thatthere are no nails or other foreign objects in the workpiece.

Before starting work with the saw, make sure that there are no tools, wood waste or other objects on the table. Only the workpiece should be on the table. Small debris, loose pieces of wood, or other objects that come into contact with the rotating blade can be fired at high velocity.

Always make cuts on a single workpiece. Do not attempt to cut a stack of workpieces as they cannot be properly clamped or held in place, which can lead to the blade jamming during cutting.

Before using the miter saw, place it on an even and stable worktop. Using the saw on such a surface significantly reduces the risk of its instability.

Plan your work. Every time you change the bevel or mitre angle setting, make sure the adjustable fence is set correctly to support the workpiece and will not interfere with the blade or the guarding system. To ensure that there are no interference or danger of cutting the fence, it is recommended to simulate the movement of the cutting disc without switching on the machine and without the workpiece on the table.

For workpieces that are wider or longer than the surface of the table, adequate support must be provided, for example by extending the table or using sawhorses. Workpieces that are longer or wider than the miter saw table can tip over if not properly supported. If a cut piece of wood or a workpiece falls over, the lower guard may lift up and be thrown uncontrollably by the rotating blade.

Do not use other people as a substitute for a table extension or additional support. Unstable support of the workpiece may cause the blade to jam. Also, the workpiece can move during cutting and pull the operator and helper onto the rotating blade.

The cut off piece must not be pressed against the rotating cutting disc. If there is little space, e.g. when using rip fences, the cut off piece may become wedged against the blade and thrown back with great force.

Ensure to utilize a suitable clamp or fixture designed for properly supporting round materials like rods or tubing. Rods have a tendency to roll while being cut, causing the blade to “bite” and pull the work with your hand into the blade.

Allow the blade to reach full speed before cutting the workpiece. This reduces the risk of the workpiece being thrown forward.

If the workpiece becomes jammed or the blade jams, switch off the saw. Wait until all Nmoving parts have stopped, then disconnect the mains plug. Then remove the jammed material. If you continue to cut while the material is jammed, you may lose control and damage the miter saw.

When the cut is complete, release the switch, hold the saw head down and wait for the blade to stop before removing the cut-off piece. It is very dangerous to reach with your hand near a stopping blade

Hold the handle firmly when making a partial cut or when you release the switch before the saw head is in its down position. The braking action of the saw may cause the saw head to be suddenly pulled downward, this may lead to a potential risk of injury.

RESIDUAL RISKS

The machine has been constructed in accordance with the latest technical achievements and safety standards. Nevertheless, there may be individual residual risks during use.

  • Health hazard due to electric current when using improper connection cables.
  • Despite all precautions, there may still be some non-obvious residual risks.
  • Residual risks can be minimized by following the “Safety Information” and “Proper Use” and the entire instruction manual.
  • Do not load the machine unnecessarily. Excessive pressure during cutting can quickly damage the saw blade’s cutting teeth, which will lead to reduced performance and reduced cutting precision.
  • Avoid accidental starting of the device: the operating button must not be pressed when inserting the plug into the socket.
  • Only use the tools recommended in this manual. This is the only way to guarantee optimal performance of the device.
  • Keep your hands away from the working area when the machine is running.
  • Release the start button and pull out the power plug before performing any adjustment or maintenance work.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING : Before starting any adjustment, maintenance, or service work, make sure to disconnect the power plug from the mains!.
General Tips:

  • Periodically wipe away wood chips and dust using a cloth. To extend the tool’s lifespan, lubricate the rotating parts once a month.
  • Do not lubricate the motor.
  • Avoid using abrasive products to clean plastic parts.

Cleaning the movable blade guard (3):

  • Always check if the blade guard is clean before using the machine.
  • Remove old sawdust and debris using a brush or a similar tool.

Replacing the table insert.
WARNING : In case of a damaged table insert (8), there is a risk of small parts getting stuck between the table insert and the cutting blade, potentially causing the blade to jam. Damaged table inserts must be replaced immediately!

  • Unscrew the screws on the table insert. If necessary, rotate the rotating table and tilt the saw head to access the screws.
  • Remove the old table insert.
  • Install the new table insert.
  • Tighten the screws near the table insert.

Checking the condition of carbon brushes.

  • Check the carbon brushes after the first 50 hours of operation of the new machine or after installing
new brushes. After the initial check, repeat the inspection every 10 hours of operation.

  • While servicing the carbon brushes, open two latches (39) counterclockwise. Then, remove the carbon
brushes and install new ones if necessary.

  • If the carbon is worn down to a length of 6 mm or if the spring or cable is burnt or damaged, both
brushes need to be replaced. If, after removing the brushes, they are found to be usable, you can reinstall them.
